    Job Description


    Ideal candidate provides circulating nurse services in the operating room during outpatient surgical procedures and assists the surgical team to provide top notch patient care within a busy multi-specialty surgery center.

    •Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred
    •Current Colorado nursing license in good standing
    •Current BLS and ACLS certification, PALS within 6 months of hire
    •Operating room experience (minimum 1 year)

    •Ability to recognize, evaluate, solve problems and recognize errors
    •Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, families, center staff, physicians, and vendors/reps
    •Excellent communication and organizational skills
    •Demonstrates accountability, professionalism, openness, flexibility, and creativity
    •Maintains strong knowledge base relative to surgery procedures and management of the surgical patient
    •Understands principles of aseptic technique and their implementation, with strict adherence to guidelines
    •Ability to care for patients from infancy to geriatrics
    •Dedication to patient satisfaction and individualized patient/family needs
    •Possesses appropriate communication skills to practice collaborative nursing
    •Ability to respond quickly, both physically and mentally, to priorities and /or changes in patient conditions
    •Compliance with the attendance policy
    •Practices nursing within the scope of practice and accepts responsibility and accountability for own actions

    •Supervises and directs patient care in the individual operating rooms
    •Performs all circulating duties with efficiency
    •Ensure patient's emotional, physical and psychological needs are met
    •Ensures that proper techniques and practices are used according to accepted standards of practice
    •Supervises and assists scrub technician as necessary
    •Assists in control and maintenance of supplies and equipment
    •Assists the anesthesiologist/CRNA as necessary
    •Documents all nursing care delivered in the operating room in the medical record
    •Performs other nursing duties as assigned
    •Maintains established center/departmental policies and procedures
    •Develops and maintains an effective working relationship with patients, families, visitors and other center employees
    •Participates in Quality Improvement activities as directed for the continuous improvement of patient care and positive outcomes
    •Understands and maintains assigned clinical competencies
