    General Overview

    Acting under the supervision of the Database Manager and working with other Ragon Institute Administrative and Clinical support personnel-will assist with the development, maintenance, and support of the Ragon Institute Cellular Immunology Database (CIDB) its Web Based User Interface.

    The Cellular Immunology Database is a Cache InterSystems database with a cross platform User Interface developed using the Adobe Flex framework. The database houses host genetic and clinical information, as well as immunological and virological data pertaining to the study of HIV/AIDS and coronavirus/COVID-19. We are in the process of migrating the Adobe Flex based UI to newer frameworks (such as Angular and HTML).

    The Ragon Institute seeks to establish a model of scientific collaboration that links the clinical, translational and basic science experts at MGH, MIT, Harvard and the Broad Institute to tackle the greatest global health challenges related to infectious disease research.


    In conjunction with other database developers and Ragon Investigators, will be responsible for the design, development, and support of the CIDBs Web-based User Interface, .Net and Cache Web services and backend relational databases. Moreover, the developer will assist in developing tools and/or complex queries that will be used by researchers for data analyses including data integrity checks, clinical research and sample identification/selection.

    Design, develop, implement and support new features being implemented into the CIDB using Web (Adobe Flex, .Net, Angular) and database (Cache and SQL server) technologies.

    Work with other team members to assist in the research, development, trouble shooting and testing that may be required for a specific application/process.

    Ensures solutions that are developed follow the CIDB team's development standards and methodologies

    Train department support personnel on the use of the Database systems/tools.

    Qualifications :

    Minimum degree and field of knowledge: BS/BA

    Years experience required: 1-2 years experience is a plus


    A Bachelor's degree in a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.

    Excellent communication skills are required- both oral and written.

    Strong skills in front-end technologies such as Angular and Adobe Flex.

    Experience developing or supporting web based database driven application.

    Experience writing .Net web services using C# and WCF. Experience with Microsoft Technologies stacks (such as .NET, C#) and with Open Source technologies (such as JavaScript, Angular, JIRA, SVN).

    A basic understanding of RDBMS development practices with development experience in database environment such as SQL Server, Oracle or Intersystems Cache.

    Has a comprehensive understanding of application development strategies, including analyses, coding, testing, and project life cycle methodologies.

    Exposure with SVN, software design patterns and Adobe Flex is a plus.
