    Job Description

    Engineering Management
    • Performs daily maintenance audits in plant - through observation - to ensure optimum production efficiency for all systems and equipment.
    • Sets and establishes maintenance schedule for production equipment that ensures timely equipment operation without disruption in production activities. Follows manufactures'' guidelines for audit, review and upkeep of equipment.
    • Proactively intervenes when there are found issues with equipment or the facility. Seeks out efficient and timely resolution to issues. Communicates with branch management on resolution activities and timing.
      • Performs needed repairs in a safe and efficient manner to restore equipment or facility to operating conditions
      • Where needed, seeks out specialized expertise to complete needed repairs to the equipment or facility. Audits work and ensures operation of equipment is safe and up to standards.
    • Assists, overseas and coordinates new equipment installation and or removal. Ensures contracted work is completed in a safe and efficient manner.
    • Oversees energy use and utilization. Seeks ways to cost effectively manage energy use at the plant.
    • Works with branch management, identify and implement systems and methods that will improve operating efficiency consistent with operating goals, cost constrains and safety guidelines. Production Systems
    • Ensures plant and equipment can and is operating at peak efficiency to ensure that processing takes place in a timely, safe and efficient manner.
    • Complete branch opening procedure and ensures boiler is powered up and the location can meet daily operational needs.
      • Holds or is willing to secure Boiler Operators license to fully and safely operate boiler controls.
      • Operates boiler in keeping with boiler water treatment principles. Troubleshoots and repairs steam and condensate piping in line with accepted principles.
    • Ensures efficient operation of Piping schematic and controls and maintains efficient operation of:
      • Water softener operation, testing and understanding
      • Water pump maintenance and operation
      • Water heating operation and understanding
      • Heat Reclaimer operation and understanding
      • Has a waste water permit or willing to obtain one within one year.Ensures efficient operation of electrical systems and controls and maintains efficient operation of:
        • Power distribution, maintenance and safety
        • Relay logic and control wiring
        • PLC wiring, controls and operation
        • High voltage controls, operation and safety
        • Low voltage controls and operation
        • Ensures efficient operation of pneumatic systems and controls and maintains efficient operation of:
          • Piping schematic and control understanding
          • Air Compressor and Air Dryer operation and maintenance
          • Valve operation and maintenance
        • Ensures efficient operation of building systems and controls and maintains efficient operation of:
          • Building codes related to permitting of various trades
          • HVAC maintenance and operation
          • Lighting maintenance and operation
          • Plumbing maintenance and operation
      • Data and Performance Measures
        • Use production - operating data to ensure production/facilities type activities are contributing to the achievement of branch financial objectives.
        • Records and maintains maintenance records as required by corporate, regulatory, or manufacturers' guidelines.
        • Audits repair charges and ensures invoices are processed in a timely manner.
        • Monitors energy consumption each month and considers conversation techniques for plant adoption.
        • Monitors maintenance area expense budget and expenditures. Meets with Branch/General manager on set schedule to review plans and results.
        • Works with Branch/General Manager and CRC Engineering team to study, set and offer items in need of capital improvement or investment.
          • Directs the appropriate staffing requirement(s) for assigned service team and seeks to maintain an optimal level of staffing at all times. Ensures efficient and legal processes are used to interview, hire and on-board new employees.
          • Effectively evaluates, coaches, and develops each team and his/her skills in accordance with Company policies and all applicable laws to grow and develop each person.
          • holds formal yearly performance discussions with each maintenance mechanic on his/her assigned team(s) informal quarterly check-ins and formal mid-year check-in.

            Branch and Corporate Support
            • Attend branch meetings as needed to engage and complete education and training around branch function(s).
            • Meets with Branch/General Manager and other Branch department personnel regarding maintenance issues that are brought to light.
            • Works closely with CRC Engineering management, to learn about and leverage best maintained and efficiencies for the branch. Learns and shares information on systems and methods that will improve operating efficiency consistent with operating goals, cost constrains and safety guidelines for the entire company.
            Safety
            • Create and support a culture of adherence to corporate standardization in support of production, financial and safety goals
            • Work with and through the district safety coordinators to ensure the branches are consistent in their management and application of safety tasks and activities.
            • Ensure the branch is consistent in its management and application of safety tasks and activities. Ensure safety committee meetings are held, monthly safety & housekeeping inspection reports completed, and periodic district safety conference calls are attended. Ensure plans are taken to overcome any serious or noted situations.
            • Communicate best practices to stakeholder(s) where possible in a clear and consistent manner to ensure adherence and compliance with stated standards.
            • Must attend OSHA 10-hour training in the US or Provincial regulatory safety training in Canada.

            Job Context

            Supervisory Responsibilities

            Manages the day-to-day activities of maintenance mechanics (where applicable). Works in collaboration with the Branch/General Manager and or Plant Manager and in some cases Production Manager on specific needs concerning the branches equipment, physical plant or facilities.

            Team and Work Orientation

            This position will be expected to work with CRC Engineering, Zone, and Branch Management to collaboratively support, develop, and manage on matters of all the branch's physical plant and facilities.

            Work Environment

            This position will have an assigned workplace close to the production floor. Production floor with have loud noises, heat, and hazardous equipment in use. Ambient temperatures can range from -10 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

            Travel Requirements:

            This job has no travel requirements other than for regional or national safety meetings or training. Will have the need for local travel to secure parts for equipment repair.

            Required Qualifications

            Minimum Education/Experience
            • Two-year technical college degree or certificate in related discipline or equivalent business/work experience
            • Class B State Boilers license (United States).
