The Paramedic responds to emergency situations, functioning independently to provide immediate treatment on site, in an ambulance setting and transporting the individual to a hospital for further evaluation. The individual performs basic and advanced life support skills in an ambulance setting and under the direction of a physician, may perform advanced paramedic skills. In a hospital setting, the Paramedic will also monitor and document the patient's vital signs and assist with set up and performing procedures under a physician's direction.
Variable work schedules with 24 hour shifts optional.

For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.
Minimum Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of appropriate course work to become eligible for the national registry and to qualify for the State paramedic license.
Preferred/Optional: Associate degree in paramedicine.
Minimum Required: Demonstrated proficiency with administering complex first-aid treatment, maintaining composure under pressure and communicating to individuals in stressful situations. Proficient with reading, writing and speaking English.
Preferred/Optional: Experience as a paramedic. Proficient with reading, writing and speaking in alternate languages.
The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.
Minimum Required: Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications provided by the American Heart Association. State of Wisconsin Paramedic license.
Preferred/Optional: State of Wisconsin Critical Care Paramedic certification.
