The Perioperative Assistant is responsible for assisting the staff in providing high quality, timely patient care, and care for department supplies and equipment as directed including transportation of patients and transporting blood specimens to, from and within the surgical unit. Position Expectations and Responsibilities: Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Assist the perioperative team where necessary in the administration of patient care. Transport patients from various areas of the hospital to Surgical Services. Obtain equipment necessary for surgical procedures. Stock blanket warmers with appropriate linens. Clean patient care equipment as instructed. Assist patients with ambulation. Write simple correspondence. Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Relay all essential communication to the appropriate patient caregiver.
Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) One to three months related experience and/or training Heartsaver AED Certification from the American Heart Association. Must live within a 30 minute on call radius.
