The Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) Ground Processing / Exploitation systems delivers timely infrared surveillance information including reliable, accurate missile event data to key decision makers. The system supports the country's missile warning/missile defense mission, the technical intelligence mission and bolsters situational awareness for warfighters on the battlefield. The system utilizes data from existing OPIR satellite constellations and reports data to mission users and warfighters over key national dissemination networks.
Northrop Grumman's Space Systems Sector, Strategic Space Systems Division in Azusa CA, is in need of qualified system engineers with an emphasis in OPIR mission data analysis.
Candidate should have demonstrated experience with performing on a highly technical team of analysts in a dynamic and fast paced environment, demonstrated ability of taking on challenging technical assignments, as well as ability to work independently with minimum supervision. The Candidate will analyze system performance using simulated and live data and should possess strong analytical and problem solving skills. Tasks will include setting up models, developing analytical tools, running systems under evaluation, processing and analyzing mission data, utilizing and adapting existing performance analysis tools and databases, and maintaining documentation. Some systems under evaluation will be in design with emergent sensors; other systems will be fully matured and operational. Candidate must have demonstrated leadership experience, excellent written and oral communication skills. Candidate will be trained in team processes. The position requires solid understanding of systems engineering practices and procedures.
Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) field & 5 years of related engineering experience, OR a Master's Degree in a STEM field & 3 years of related engineering experience
Practical experience with Windows & LINUX operating systems
2 years of engineering experience in satellite data analysis
Active & current DoD secret security clearance
Master's Degree in a STEM field
6 years of engineering experience in satellite data analysis
Experience with OP/IR mission processing for existing constellations and have a working knowledge of space phenomenology and orbital mechanics
Experience with system modeling tools such as SML/UML, STK, MatLab, etc.
Active & current TS/SCI security clearance
