Position description

Performs in the role of Surgical TECH during MOHS operative and invasive procedures in dermatology. Demonstrates knowledge of anatomy and physiology. Under the direction of the MOHS surgeon, performs responsibilities that will include patient positioning, tissue handling, retracting, bleeding control including vessel clamping, cauterizing and tying, stapling, suturing and dressing application. Team member who provides direct and indirect patient care when caring for patients in the clinic setting. Provides care that meets the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care; meets the communication needs of patient and family; provides care that reflects initiative and responsibility indicative of professional expectations, under the supervision of a physician. Maintains regulatory requirements, policies, procedures and standards. Communicates with physicians and team members about patient's clinical condition, including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology.

Qualifications

Graduate of surgical technologist program (or equivalency ex. military); or graduate of surgical first assistant program; or prior employment in the role of surgical scrub tech or surgical first assistant. Minimum one year employment in the role of scrub tech in an OR or surgical first assistant.

Additional qualifications

Ability to read and communicate effectively in English. Basic computer skills. Ability to perform effectively on teams. Ability to perform effectively in stressful situations.

License or certification

Midwest: Basic Cardiac Life Support for healthcare providers- BCLS – certificate of course completion required and must not expire within 3 months after start date. A scanned copy of the certificate of completion or transcripts, including your full name, must be attached to your profile to be considered.

We will only accept certificates of course completion from the following providers:
  • American Heart Association (Title: BLS for Healthcare Providers or BLS Provider)
  • Red Cross (Title: CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers or BLS for Healthcare Providers)
  • Military Training Network
Additional specialty certification/training as required by the work area.

Compensation Detail

Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $24.37 per hour.
