    Job Description SummaryMontgomery College, Office of Student Affairs/Athletics Department, has need for a full-time, Men's Soccer Head Coach position #S00187. The work schedule is Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., including some evenings and weekends and traveling between the three campuses. This is a non-bargaining, exempt, Grade 21 position. This is a temporary with benefits position funded through June 20, 2021. Employment continuation beyond this period is contingent upon need and funding. Position is located in Rockville, MD.

    Job Description

    Duties include but are not limited to:

    • Administer and direct all aspects of the soccer program, maintaining a respected NJCAA Division I program. This includes oversight of assistant coaches.
    • Adhere to all applicable NJCAA, conference, department, and College regulations that relate to recruiting, daily program management, operations of the sport, and general success of the program.
    • Establish team and individual goals.
    • Explain and demonstrate principles, techniques, and methods of regulating movement of body, hands, or feet to achieve proficiency in activity.
    • Recruit quality student-athletes by means of personal contact and correspondence, evaluating ability in person or by videotape, and through on-campus visits.
    • Instruct student-athletes on subject matter such as performance, physical health, team concepts, and safety.
    • Provide leadership and mentorship to student-athletes.
    • Promote and monitor the physical, emotional and social welfare of student-athletes.
    • Promote and monitor student-athlete academic progress and success in accordance with academic policies.
    • Conduct soccer clinics and camps.
    • Administer and coordinate all equipment and uniform purchases within budgetary limitations.
    • Describe and demonstrate use of apparatus and equipment.
    • Plan and implement in-season conditioning and practices, and evaluate both team and individual performance.
    • Prepare and conduct off-season conditioning, practice and other related activities.
    • Manage and arrange team travel.
    • Schedule games and practices.
    • Work closely with the media relations department.
    • Develop and implement team fundraisers
    • Manage the use of college-wide athletic facilities to generate additional revenue streams.
    • Recruit external organizations to rent college athletics facilities and manage ongoing relationships with athletic facility tenants.
    • Build year over year income growth from lease agreements.
    • Ensure all lease agreements and activities comply with college facilities rules and regulations.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree.
    • Minimum of three years of college and/or high school soccer coaching experience.
    • Experience training and/or instructing student-athletes.
    • Demonstrated leadership experience in team management.
    • Knowledge of the sport of soccer, its philosophies and program operations.
    • Knowledge of JUCO and NJCAA rules and regulations, and team management.
    • Skilled in verbal and written communications including interpersonal relations, interacting with diverse student population, providing guidance and instruction, drafting communications.
    • Skilled in organizing, meeting deadlines, problem-solving, recruiting, coaching, instructing, and the use of mathematics.
    • Skilled in using a personal computer and Microsoft Office Suite software applicable to the job.
    • Ability to speak effectively before groups, motivate, set measurable goals, travel, and to work non-traditional hours.
    • Eligible applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States and not require employer visa sponsorship.

    Licenses and Certifications:

    • A valid driver's license and a good driving record.
