Foundation and Corporate Giving Manager JustLeadershipUSA (JLUSA) is dedicated to cutting the US correctional population in half by 2030. On the guiding principle that those closest to the problem are closest to the solution, JLUSA empowers people most affected by incarceration to drive policy reform. JLUSA was launched in November 2014. Position Summary: JustLeadershipUSA (JLUSA) seeks an experienced Foundation and Corporate Giving Manager to join our Development Team. Reporting to the Director of Development, this position will serve as a key member of the Development Team. He/She will be responsible for raising philanthropic support for JLUSA through the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of new institutional partners with an emphasis on foundations and corporations. He/She will also be responsible for supporting the stewardship of and reporting and proposal writing for current funders. JLUSA’s current institutional portfolio consists of 20 foundation partners. JLUSA seeks to grow its funding portfolio and generate $5M+ in annual revenue in support of our national training and technical assistance program for Leadership and Advocacy, as well as special initiatives across the US. The Manager will manage a mixed portfolio of mid- to large- corporate sponsors and foundation donors. In this capacity, the Manager will play a critical role in the creation and consistent review of written and visual/graphic proposals and report materials, and reporting calendars. He/She will aid in creating and ensuring consistency in our overall communications with institutional funders. Roles & Responsibilities: * Grant Writing (55%) * Prepare sponsorship proposals, grant requests and reports that demonstrate consistency of JLUSA’s voice. Also prepare compelling narratives and thoughtful impact analysis * Leverage and update a centralized grants and sponsorship management calendar for all communications with existing and prospective funders (regularly checking and adding in deadlines, new prospects, etc.); identify new funding opportunities by monitoring requests for proposals and conducting grant research * Develop various size grant proposals (narrative, timelines, budgets, etc. for private foundations and corporate donors as well as federal, state and local jurisdictions and secure funding for ongoing and new projects, in collaboration with Leadership and Operations Team * Develops and compiles annual report in partnership with the Communications Team * Persuasively and creatively communicates the organization’s mission, goals and objectives to current and potential funders * Conducts prospect research; assembles and submits grant requests and RFPs * Maintains proficient knowledge of organization’s history and activities * Establishes and maintains high level contact and relationships with funding managers s and program officers * Foster positive and professional working relationships with all staff * Grant Administration (15%) * Maintains an annual calendar of deadlines to ensure timely submission of letters of inquiry, proposal deadlines and reports * Work with the Operations team to ensure quality of and timeliness of proposal budgets and program expense reports submitted * Oversee submission of grant modifications, cooperative agreements and adherence to reporting requirements * Update grants policies and procedures on an annual basis * Tracks all grant activity in Salesforce; generates internal reports as requested * Fundraising Planning (15%) * Work with the Director of Development in developing annual priorities and plans for funding activities. * Additional Duties (15%) * As a strong writer, the Manager will contribute to the creation of an Annual Report for efficient use in the Institutional giving campaign, and to enhance transparency and reporting across all donor and audience categories. * Represent JLUSA and interact with all levels of the organization and donors. * Work with the Communications Department to promote institutional relationships on the website, social media and press. Qualifications * Bachelor’s degree * 5+ years of experience with grants budget development, management, and implementation, or the equivalent combination of education and experience * Strong writing, research, project management and analytical skills are a must * Must possess a high level of attention to detail and the ability to see projects through to completion * Candidates must possess an ability to work well under pressure and the ability to seek and synthesize information and communication in a compelling and succinct form * Familiarity with social justice reform; workforce development and advocacy * A high level of computer literacy required, specifically with Google Suite * Familiarity with Salesforce, Foundation Center databases and other fundraising information sources is a plus * Excellent written and oral skills, and outstanding organizational skills required * Strong editing skills * Ability to work within an environment that emphasizes teamwork as well as individual initiative * Ability to operate using a high level of discretion while also leading transparently * Must be a self-starter, able to work independently in a busy, deadline and detail oriented environment What we offer: * Compensation is commensurate with experience * Health, dental and vision insurances * Three percent match for 403B contributions * Fifteen PTO (Annual), fifteen sick days and four personal days per day (earned on an accrual basis) and time off between Christmas and New Years.
