B's Ace Hardware is seeking a highly motivated and service-oriented Assistant Managers who enjoys leading a team of passionate associates. Position Summary The Assistant Manager manages overall store operations and the achievement of company goals and directives. They are responsible for ensuring that associates provide exceptional customer service while achieving sales goals as well as support and help the Store Manager in their effort to consistently provide an environment that is "the best place to work and the best place to shop." Assistant Store Managers help set the tone for the whole store, they must consistently do more than is required and frequently more than is expected. This includes ensuring customer satisfaction, driving sales, building sales skills and product knowledge. Effective Assistant Store Managers maximize productivity and profitability by identifying sales opportunities and setting customer service standards. They must demonstrate knowledge of the store's purpose and goals and have the skills to help associates achieve those goals. They must be willing to work alongside employees to get the job done. An enthusiastic, positive and supportive attitude is essential.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities include the following, other duties may be assigned. Customer Service • Provide positive representation of store. • Proactively assist customers in solving problems. • Greet customers entering and throughout the store. Thank customers when finished and when they are leaving the store. • Provide a friendly, outgoing demeanor; work well with customers as well as associates. • Ensure all calls are answered promptly, courteously, and effectively. • Handle customer complaints. Work to resolve problems with the customer and have store's best interest taken into consideration and move up the ladder when necessary. • Possess excellent product knowledge and knowledge of store layout and location of products. Store Operations • Ensure a positive, professional, and safe work environment for all associates. • Supervise the "general operations" of the entire store. • Ensure successful Loss Prevention and Safety • Work with General Manager on running the store. • Assist with special projects • Implement new Standard Operating Procedures into store execution. • Assist with daily maintenance, orderliness and cleanliness of the sales floor, stock room and outdoor merchandise areas. • Oversee/assist all cashiering functions including training, and reports. • Visit competition to be familiar with what they are doing • Have a complete working knowledge or wanting to learn and willingness to use: cash register/point of sale, Time Clock software, paint mixer, paint computer, key machine, forklift, and circular /chop/panel saws (where applicable,) etc. • Participate in review of store walks with Store Manager to identify opportunity areas and correct all issues with a sense of urgency within 30 days following the evaluation results. • Perform all other duties as assigned. Inventory & Merchandising • Assist to ensure receiving, checking in and stocking of merchandise adheres to best practices and Standard Operating Procedures. • Responsible for maintenance of back stock levels. • Assist to ensure that cycle counts and negative on hand reports are completed timely and accurately. • Assist with merchandise resets throughout the store. • Assist to ensure all signage is current in the store. • Assist in presenting a clean and orderly sales floor and supporting Inventory Manager to ensure that merchandise plan to include monthly endcaps, seasonal flips and all merchandising on floor are completed per store calendar. Hiring & Training of Associates • Assist in training, reviewing, rewarding, and coaching cashiers and associates with the approval/assistance of the General Manager. Leadership • Manage all aspects of store operations in the absence of the General Manager. • Lead by example; be approachable by all associates and customers. • Participate in store meetings. • Communicate any merchandising, cost control or sales idea to the General Manager for follow up. • Prepare and challenge yourself for future advancement. Education • High School or GED equivalent. • Previous retail management experience preferred. Hardware experience preferred. • Technically skilled in basic computer knowledge and software (such as, Word, Excel, Email, internet research) • Possess a vast product knowledge of hardware related products along with a willingness to learn. • Solid Team player with professional demeanor and excellent interpersonal skills • Must have good written and oral communication skills • Ability to provide motivation and leadership to employee’s store-wide and foster a positive team culture. • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet the needs of the business. • May need to run deliveries, so a clean driving record is required • Must be a US Citizen and able to provide proof of employment • B’s Ace Hardware is an equal opportunity employer Physical Demands • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time. • Requires the ability to reach, bend, balance, lift and transport various objects weighing up to 40 lbs repeatedly throughout the shift; at times, product weight may reach 50 lbs.
