    Job Description

    GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:

    The MGH Division of Infectious Diseases and Infection Control Unit is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator II (CRC II) to work with a multidisciplinary team from Massachusetts General Hospital dedicated to prevention of hospital acquired infections.

    The CRC will work with the Principal Investigator and research team to conduct hospital-based research as well as in collaboration with colleagues in application of artificial intelligence methods to infection prevention.

    Example projects include:

    • Analysis of electronic health records and bacterial genomics to identify potential transmission events
    • Analysis of the impact of screening and other infection control programs on clinical and operational outcomes
    • Prospective surveillance to identify patients colonized with Clostridioides difficile (C diff) infection
    • Prospective risk prediction to identify patients at risk of hospital acquired infections

    PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Responsibilities for the CRC II may include, but are not limited to, the following activities:

    • Participate in all phases of research projects, from conception and design of studies through analysis and writing manuscripts for submission to academic journals
    • Perform systematic literature reviews and synthesize relevant data
    • Assist in writing abstracts for submission to research conferences
    • Design posters for presentation at research conferences
    • Present study results to project teams and external stakeholders
    • Collaborate with team members to prepare Institutional Review Board (IRB) applications and related documents regarding the protection of human subjects
    • Monitor study activities for compliance with all applicable regulations and facilitate regulatory trainings for study personnel as needed
    • Help prepare grant progress reports and applications and related documents
    • Assist in preparation of slides for lectures and seminars
    • Organize group meetings, including setting up conference calls and taking minutes
    • Provide general administrative support as needed

    Additional project-specific responsibilities will vary depending on experience and skill, but may include the following:
    • Participate in model development, refinement, and debugging
    • Contribute to the documentation of model inputs and update model user manuals
    • Generate data queries and participate in data cleaning efforts
    • Analyze quantitative data, including cohort studies, clinical trials, and implementation science studies
    • Partner with collaborators and study staff on oversight of studies, standard operating procedure development and review, and data quality assurance

    Occasional hours outside the standard workday may be required, particularly around grant submission deadlines.

    Qualifications :

    EDUCATION:
    • The position requires a bachelor's degree, with an academic record demonstrating experience and skills in analytical thinking and/or quantitative methods.
    EXPERIENCE:

    • Excellent academic record
    • Previous research experience required. Experience as a CRC or Research Assistant strongly preferred.

    Other experience that may be helpful but is not required:

    • Familiarity with statistical programming software such as SAS, Stata, or R
    • Database design and management experience, particularly with REDCap or Access
    • Experience working with investigator-initiated clinical research studies
