    Job Duties


    The Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior is seeking to hire a Data Manager to join their Center for Community Health. Primary duties include:

    •Assist statisticians and research team in preparing data summaries and analysis data sets and design project specific guidelines for data collection procedures
    •Participate in the implementation of the identified research project(s) and manage data using SAS, Stata, or R
    •Provide consultations to investigators and project staff to troubleshoot data collection and management issues and procedures as needed
    •Assist in the preparation and implementation of data collection instruments and protocols
    •Provide quality control checks of data for missing or incorrect / inconsistent responses

    Job Qualifications


    •Master's degree in Statistics or a related field, strongly preferred
    •Thorough knowledge of database management and general statistical methods, such as regression survival analysis, experimental design, sample survey, clinical trials, strongly preferred
    •Must have thorough familiarity with at least one commonly used statistical package such as SAS, R or STATA, and general familiarity with several statistical packages
    •At least one year of work experience in practical statistical applications; ability to interpret statistical analysis results and identify their potential limitations, strongly preferred
    •Demonstrated ability to read and understand research papers on behavioral interventions, HIV/AIDS, and substance abuse
    •Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and a collegial approach to teamwork
    •Experience with social or behavioral sciences and data analysis related to this field, preferred
