The purpose of this position is to receive, put away, pick and ship product within a distribution center. The DC Shipping Team Member is responsible for maintaining quality by properly and safely handling the product using customer focused distribution. The activities performed by a Team Member are instrumental in a facility achieving or exceeding key performance indicator metrics.
•Will handle the movement of trailer from the yard/door location to a yard/door location
•Responsibility for maintaining inventory of yard trailers in conjunction with transportation personnel located in the visitor center and will assist the visitor center as needed
•Position may involve working inside the warehouse
•Responsible for maintaining control of the trailer parking lot and all equipment located in the trailer parking lot
•Position will require interview with Transportation Manager
•Drivers will be held responsible for their equipment including fueling, timely reporting of mechanical problems and maintaining the cleanliness of their truck
•Drivers will be asked to clean lot during low volume periods and perform other duties consistent with the efficient operation of the DC
•Other duties deemed necessary by the Transportation Manager
Requirements, skills, and experience:
•Strong work and safety ethic
•Be able to operate, or experience operating, a Yard Tractor or Tractor Trailer, be comfortable with backing/maneuvering trailers in size from 28' to 53' or willing to be trained
•Ability to work in high traffic/limited space environment.
•Positive attitude and team building skills
Other Job Requirements:
•Grasps and lifts by hand (floor to overhead) and carries heavy and/or bulky merchandise. (Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.)
•Uses and verifies accuracy via Laser Radio Terminal (LRT) to receive, process, stock, and select merchandise for shipment, and audit the quality of work performed within the distribution center Operates distribution computers systems as required to efficiently control merchandise flow.
•Safely operates industrial lift trucks and other motorized and non-motorized equipment to unload trailers, transport, select, stock, and load heavy/large merchandise onto trailers for shipment to the retail stores
•Places/removes by hand selected merchandise onto/from conveyors, racks, pallets, and into/out of boxes as merchandise is processed. Loads and unloads trailers by hand, floor to ceiling
•Meets safety, accuracy, attendance, and production standards for all assignments. Observes incoming and outgoing merchandise for manufacturers defects and damage
•Handles merchandise without damaging during processing
•Maintains assigned work area free of debris and spills using standard cleaning supplies
•Comply with performance criteria and standards of conduct as provided in applicable policies.
• Strong safety orientation and proven record of complying with safety requirements
• Demonstrated track record of consistent and reliable on-the-job contribution
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision or with a team
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Experience in distribution center operations or previous warehouse experience
• Experience operating power equipment (e.g., forklift, reach truck, yard truck)
• Experience performing detail-oriented tasks in a fast-paced working environment
• Experience using spatial reasoning to position product effectively
• Basic math and reading comprehension skills
• Basic computer skills
