    Job Description

    The Azure Core organization, specifically the Azure Compute team is seeking a highly motivated, talented, and technical Program Manager to help deliver our Azure control plane platforms to our customers. This is an opportunity to gain experience in the foundation of Microsoft Cloud. As part of this team, you will work directly with core Azure engineering teams to deliver intelligent, massively scalable, automated solutions that give our 1st and 3rd party customers world class infrastructure to run their mission critical services. You will work to continue to advance the state-of-the-art in core Azure platforms that are used to manage millions of servers hosting Azure workloads. You will have the opportunity to partner with multiple engineering teams across the company such as AI Core, Bing, Cortana, Office, Exchange, Xbox Online, xCloud, Skype, Teams, etc. Together with the engineering teams, you will work to build and run planet scale services on the Microsoft Cloud.

    • Define roadmaps for customer scenarios, features, and capabilities that you will own.
    • Develop credible execution plans.
    • Apply data-driven insight where possible to improve efficiencies.
    • Design features by converting complex requirements, metrics, and policy into technical feature specifications and designs.
    • Approach complex problems with a structural approach. Communicate to senior decision makers in a clear & compelling way.
    • Ability to drive decisive action in partnership with others in a large & diverse organization and deliver results that depend on broader Microsoft org.
    • Define targets for key business KPIs, and track and report progress on them.
    • Define and implement QoS and SLA metrics for your scenarios / features / capabilities.
    • Help lead and champion a team culture that embraces diversity and inclusively.

    Basic Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or related field or 4+ years of professional experience in the technology industry
    • 3+ years of software industry experience working as a technical program manager or software engineer
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Ability to work independently in ambiguous environments
    • Ability to partner with engineering, operations and relevant business groups across the company.
    • Experience in distributed systems, building large scale platforms, and cloud technologies.
    • Proven ability to discuss distributed computing topics with technical, non-technical, and executive audiences.
    • Domain knowledge about cloud datacenter infrastructure & environment.
    • Strong track record of self-directed execution.
    • Experience building and/or using Container platform technologies. Example: Kubernetes, Docker
    • Experience building Deployment orchestration platforms.
    • Experience around general software-based automation and large data analytics.
    • Scripting and/or programming skills in C#, R, Python, or PowerShell.
    • Hands on experience with data analytic tools (such as Power BI and SQL).
    • Strong written communication and presentation skills.
    • Ability to be strategic, but also drive tactics and execution as needed.
    • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
    • Advanced technical degree or MBA is a plus.
    Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check. This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
