    JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

    Position will be responsible to the Director for Undergraduate Recruitment for recruiting prospective students from out-of-state market areas, typically requiring a high level of travel (approximately 8-10 weeks per semester) and recruitment territory management. Candidate is responsible for the recruitment of prospective students by presenting admissions information to groups of students and families in their out-of-state markets via on-campus, off-campus, and virtual events. Recruiters/Counselors will plan and/or represent the University at various in-person and virtual recruitment events including high school visits, college fairs, and other off-campus events. Recruiter will also communicate admissions policies to and develop relationships with high school counselors within the territory. The position will work with wage staff in the territory; recruit, coordinate, and supervise alumni volunteers; and help manage and train additional staff for coverage within the territory. Participate in office or University committees and perform special projects and assignments as required as part of the recruitment team. Will render admission decisions; handle large volume of inquiries via email, telephone, and in-person or virtual meetings; and advise prospective, applicant, and admitted students and families to make informed college-choice decisions. Candidates must be able to articulate undergraduate admission options at all campuses for all applicant types.

    Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and organizational skills are essential, with a desire to communicate with prospective students and their families about their Penn State options throughout the application process. The ability to manage concurrent projects and a high level of detail with accuracy is required. Demonstrated high level of student-centered customer service in high volume environment is critical. Candidates must be able to multitask, work independently, and be accountable and reliable. Travel and/or some extended hours and weekend work are required. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Computer experience with knowledge of PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, Slate (or other CRM system), Zoom, and Microsoft Office Suite is strongly preferred. This position requires operation of a motor vehicle as a part of job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
