    The Biomarker Discovery & Validated Assay portfolio contains innovative, high quality reagents in the area of ELISA, Luminex Multiplex, Mass Spectrometry, Gene Expression, and Cell Health. We cater to researchers worldwide that empower the process of scientific discovery with a strong focus on the areas of applied markets, protein discovery, cellular immunity, immunotherapy, toxicology and oncology.

    Incumbent must be located within the territory/region with a strong preference for Houston area.

    What will you do?

    The Technical Sales Specialist is responsible for sales and related support activities for Thermo Fisher Scientific Life Science Solutions Group, Biosciences Division, Protein & Cell Analysis Flow Cytometry Reagents products to specified academic, government or industrial accounts comprising the assigned territory.

    • Requires a BA or BS in Biology, Immunology or related field, preferred M.Sc. or PhD
    • Previous lab experience utilizing ELISA, Multiplexing, Gene Expression assays, Mass Spec or previous sales experience selling into these workflows
    • Strong technical background with a minimum of 2 years hands-on experience in a research laboratory setting
    • Background and familiarity with customers involved in drug discovery, particularly in the areas of developing Screening Assays and Biomarker Discovery
    • Selling experience in the area of Immunoassays, Biomarker Screening Tools, Mass Spec, and/or Gene Expression
    • Awareness of the life science marketplace, particularly of the immunoassay market, its trends and our competitors
    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
    • Achievement of assigned territory sales goals
    • Provides deep knowledge of the workflows around immunoassays, mass spec, and gene expression and able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
      • Ability to partner effectively as part of a team to solve problems, negotiate solutions and arrive at a consensus with strong oral presentation skills
      • Customer-centric behaviors are evident, displaying strong organizational skills with the ability to plan in advance and execute complex sales plans
      • Proactively calling on existing and potential new customers via field visits, web conferences and telephone, demonstrating clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
    • Work closely with Thermo Fisher counterparts to develop specific account growth strategy, account mapping and penetration and be a strong technical resource to Thermo Fisher counterparts in the areas of assigned portfolio
      • Generates and qualifies sales leads by building a strong pipeline and deliver a robust funnel and forecast on a regular basis
      • Gathers, processes, and disseminates competitive intelligence and market feedback
      • Provides weekly/monthly and other ad hoc reporting as required complete Special Projects as requested
      • Participates in trade shows, vendor shows and related activities as deemed necessary and prepare and implement Territory Sales Plans and update as needed
      • Provides mentorship, if applicable
    • Maintains appropriate records and process demos, sample requests per Company guidelines
    • Refers customer complaints/product quality problems to the appropriate functions
    • Ability to travel overnight travel up to 75% of the time and able to lift 35 lbs. independently and a valid driver's license
    • Identifies and mitigates competitive barriers and may provide after sales technical support and customer service
    • Coordinates and/or conducts both technical and promotional seminars
