This Food Service Worker position is part-time with multiple openings and shifts.
The Food Service Worker I performs entry-level food service tasks. Work involves preparing and serving food, cleaning equipment and work areas, maintaining inventories, and receiving and issuing food and supplies. Works in assigned dining room area under the general supervision of the area leader. Shares the responsibility with other food service employees for preparing and serving food and cleaning equipment and the work area. Prepares reports relative to the position. Must understand the duties, location of work (on TSH campus) and shift pattern are subject to change as determined by the administration to meet the needs of the hospital. Works under close supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned
2. Serves and monitors the distribution of meals, and ensures that guidelines for special diets are followed.
3. Prepares dining areas for the serving of meals and sets up serving lines.
4. Cleans dining, service, and food preparation areas.
5. Cleans and sterilizes dishes, kitchen utensils, equipment, and facilities.
6. Assists in the preparation of modified or special diets and in performing calculations for special diets.
7. Maintains daily records.
8. Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.
Knowledge Skills Abilities:
1. Knowledge of food preparation methods, of food storage and preservation, and of sanitation regulations.
2. Skill in the operation, cleaning, and sanitizing of food service appliances and equipment.
3. Ability to prepare and serve food; to clean dining, serving, and food preparation areas; and to maintain accurate records.
4. Ability to read and understand written material.
5. Ability to follow verbal instructions.

Initial Selection Criteria:
1. Experience in food service work.
Applicants must pass a fingerprint criminal background check, pre-employment drug screen, and registry checks including the Client Abuse/Neglect Reporting System (CANRS), Nurse Aid, Medication Aide and Employee Misconduct, and HHS OIG list of Excluded Individuals/Entities. Males between the ages of 18-25 must be registered with the Selective Service.

Salary Note: The salary offered will follow HHS starting salary guidelines which are typically made at or near the posted minimum of the salary range.
