Job Description ASRC Federal is a premier provider of systems engineering, software engineering, system integration, and project management services for real-time, mission-critical defense systems. We are seeking highly motivated platform engineer to support an agile software development project for the US Navy. Responsibilities: In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the continuous evolution of a secure and automated platform supporting a virtual development environment that supports large volumes of users. The candidate would be looking for evolution in operating systems, server hardware, and configuration of cloud environment. As a Platform Engineer, your responsibilities include: * Support definition of requirements across multi-security on-premises and cloud-based (or hybrid) infrastructures and work closely with DevOps Engineer to ensure robust base infrastructure to support the DevOps vision is in place for both connected and disconnected environments. * Estimating the overall resources needed and Defining the hardware and/or cloud-based infrastructure including the compute server, storage, and network architecture overall; consisting of several complex compute environments that form the backbone for the operational deployment of the virtual development environment. This shall include planning for optimization of existing resources before requesting new resources. * Design a high-level schematic of IT Infrastructure Platform that is suitable for the environment that's requested. * Identifying and incorporating estimated traffic and ensuring load balancing using standard or customized load balancing techniques [Ex. F5 Load Balancing products] * Planning Testing and Validating all Hardware and SW before deployment covering performance, functionality and security * Implement rigorous processes and procedures to be used for future improvements and fixes while ensuring that any changes follow a change management process. * Defining and implementing metrics for and monitoring system performance, availability, or security risks and ensuring status reports to Senior Management. * Providing Infrastructure tooling expertise, direction, and assistance across all levels of the organization * Working with vendors to troubleshoot the platform and issues related to integrations with other internal systems * Acting as the Infrastructure Automation tooling technical subject matter expert * Tracking emerging technologies; evaluating their applicability to Platform infrastructure goals and operation requirements * Developing and automating repeatable tasks through use of scripting languages and vendor APIs * Integrating and automating the program security posture and accounting Desirable Experience: * Bachelor's Degree in Network Technology and Information Systems, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field * Minimum of 4 years of professional experience. * Experience developing, tuning and implementing large-scale, complex on-premises and cloud system infrastructure architectures and Data Center [on premises or third party] * Proficiency in matching system requirements to compute, storage and network capabilities and the knowledge and ability to Identify, Evaluate and Select specific types of infrastructure to meet those requirements. * Experience with the architecture, design and implementation of COTS Infrastructure (IT). * Hands-on experience supporting/developing cloud enterprise technology and infrastructure in Azure and AWS. * Experience reviewing and managing technical and business requirements for establishing new Azure or AWS platforms. * Demonstrated skill with at least one or more configuration management/scripting technology (such as Ansible/Chef/Puppet) * Solid working knowledge of networks, storage, and virtualization [VMWare] * Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and deployment of containerized applications/microservices architectures in support of CI/CD pipeline stage execution, DevOps tool deployment and end stage product deployment environments including developing internal container definitions using secure/trusted internal/external repositories as well as standardized reuse strategies. * Ability to implement a rigorous Change Management processes - Version Control of software and applications * Knowledge and Experience working with DevOps Tools such as JIRA, Git hub, Jenkins etc. * Experience with infrastructure security implementation, monitoring and maintenance. * Experience with Windows and Linux System Administration. * Scripting skills (i.e. PowerShell, Python, Ruby, bash, etc.) * Experience with logging and monitoring systems such as Splunk, or ELK * Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a Secret Clearance * Must have ability to * Provide excellent customer service * Coordinate several concurrent tasks * Interface with users in a pleasant and tactful manner * Be self-motivated * Quickly learn new technologies * Occasionally work non-standard hours as required * To be a Team Player with the ability to work well independently with limited direction * Must be a U.S. citizen in order to obtain and maintain a Secret Security clearance ASRC Federal and its Subsidiaries are Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employers.
