Job Summary
This position is considered Category I: Mandatory and required on campus or health care facilities to support on-site operations. Employees hired into this category will be required to be physically located at various sites at the University of Utah if they are healthy and without COVID -19 symptoms.
Develops and implements policies, programs and financial objectives for assigned departments in relation to accounting and finance functions, including (but not limited to) general accounting, payroll, cost accounting, budget formulation, and treasury. Participates in preparing department budgets and in setting department goals. Ensures continuity and quality customer service between University departments and community.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
1.Responsible for financial and operational performance of all laboratory activities within dermatology; including but not limited to compliance, quality, safety, operations, staffing, inventory, purchasing, and all other areas necessary to ensure successful performance of the laboratories.
2.Proficient with data analysis, and decision making. This position will work extensively with Excel and Business Intelligence software.
3.Collaborates and maintains relationships with medical directors.
4.Liaison with other laboratory partners within the University of Utah and affiliate organizations. Facilitates cooperative and collaborative relationships to promote dermatology.
5.Coordinate marketing and maintain presence with national client relationships. Ensures customer satisfaction by analyzing customer complaints, concerns and suggestions. Provides appropriate follow through to ensure quality customer service.
6.Manage corporate accounts including; new client set up, accounts manager, client support/troubleshooting, charge capture, participate in managing and resolving accounts with aged receivables.
7. Participates in the development and interpretation of department polices to ensure compliance with the University's policies and regulatory requirements. May authorize exceptions to department policy and procedures related to assigned departments. Ensures compliance with Federal and state regulations.
8.Establishes internal objectives and implements procedures to meet goals. Assists in setting department short and long-term goals.
9.Oversees department staff management including recruitment, performance evaluations and retention of staff.
10. Authorizes the purchase and implementation of new technology, resources and equipment.
11. Serves as part of the department leadership team.

The problems and solutions encountered by this position vary depending on the area and structure of the department. This position frequently addresses problematic situations and often acts a mediator or a negotiator. A major task for this position is to understand the needs of the customers and determine what products and services should be provided to meet those needs.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business or Public Administration, a related area, or equivalency required; plus six years of progressively more responsible management experience; and demonstrated leadership, human relations and effective communication skills also required. Master's degree in Business Administration or related area preferred. This position is not responsible for providing patient care. The incumbent must be proficient in making daily operational decisions in assigned area to ensure compliance of current regulations and guidelines.
