LJL has an opening for a Director of Operations to join our team in San Diego. This senior management-level position requires versatility, strong intellect, initiative, top-flight communication skills, total reliability, and a pace and quality of execution consistent with our corporate culture. It also requires confidentiality, tact, and an ability to maintain a professional presence while handling multiple assignments within tight timeframes in a creative and dynamic environment. The ideal candidate is flexible, willing to learn, great at research, detail-oriented, predictive of risk, forward-thinking, adept at leading teams, and owns accountability for the accomplishment of major company goals. This position has many responsibilities and is perfect for the candidate who wishes to expand their leadership skills while managing the operation of a high-end boutique cybersecurity engineering firm servicing the commercial and Department of Defense (DoD) components.
Duties include the following:
Collaborate with executive and senior management personnel to make decisions on company operational activities; set and implement strategic near-term and long-term business strategies that provide the company an opportunity to scale, grow revenue and move into new strategic markets; cascade those messages across the organization
Plan, execute, delegate and monitor day-to-day company operations; manage cross functional organizational teams; responsible for managing company staffing to ensure efficient use of resources; ensure staff are focused on the company priorities
Provide managerial oversight and accountability across human resources, recruiting, programs, information systems, facilities, contracts, administrative, marketing and accounting activities and major company initiatives; lead and organize departmental and corporate monthly/weekly meetings
Develop, implement and regularly review operational policies and procedures; regularly analyze for needed updates to improve quality, productivity and efficiency across the organization; assumes full ownership of company policy and procedure documents and templates; maintain strict configuration control
In collaboration with department leads identify, evaluate and implement technology, tools, methods and processes to support company growth, scalability and efficiency
Prepare and execute against approved annual corporate budgets; identify and work to remove barriers to achieving financial goals and strategic objectives
Ensure all facility lease agreements, insurance policies, other operational agreements, legal and regulatory company documents are filed and monitor compliance with changing laws and regulations
Manage external supply chain/vendor relationships and maintain currency of all licenses/subscriptions
Identify and address problems and opportunities for the company associated with current execution and short/long-term growth targets; evaluate overall company performance by gathering and analyzing data and metrics and report to executive management as needed
Provide management-level support and oversight to client direct and corporate indirect projects, programs and initiatives as required.
Ensure maximum productivity and quality control in product/output IAW company standards
Collaborate with HR on recommendations and implementation of reward/recognition programs; oversee and implement employee corrective action plans; promote a company culture that encourages top performance and high morale
Communicate job expectations and monitor performance for assigned teams; contribute to employee performance assessments
Prepare and brief effective reports/presentations to executive management team on issues, concerns, and recommendations and resolutions
Support marketing, bid and proposal activities to support company growth
