Kelly Engineering has an entry-level, Direct Hire Opportunity located in Fenton, MI for Designer/Drafter using AutoCAD and Solidworks.

Job Description: 

Participate in team-based approach to design and development of products, prepare basic product drawings, evaluate and update existing drawings, prepare production documentation including work orders and work instructions and other related activities.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES AND RESULTS

New Product Documentation Preparation

  • Create detail drawing packages for new branded and OEM product launches.
  • Create Engineering Masters used for production Work Orders.
  • Develop tool paths for cutting table and saws.
  • Assist in developing work instructions and process flows.
  • Assist project engineers with other launch activities as required.

Documentation Maintenance

  • Implement document changes per the Change Control Process.
  • Reviewing legacy product information, including process verification, for accuracy and providing recommendations to engineering team for improvement opportunity.

Other Duties

  • Provide support and constructive feedback to co-workers including production personnel in a professional and polished manner.
  • Adhere to safety policies and procedures and promote a safe work environment for co-workers, customers, and suppliers
  • All other duties, as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Computer-Aided Drafting, Design, Engineering, or closely related field or proven experience in lieu of degree. 2-3 years’ experience as a detailer (mechanical drafting preferred)
  • Familiarity in the development of engineering and manufacturing processes including GD&T, FMEA’s and Process Flows.
  • Experience with foam, metal, and plastic materials is desirable.
  • Must possess solid communication skills (verbally and in writing) and able to interface well with both technical and non- technical staff in various departments.
  • Possess excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to organize work load and manage time effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
