    The Josselyn Center team is growing as we expand our Community Mental Health Centers in Northfield, IL and Waukegan, IL! We are seeking an experienced Medical Assistant to join our team!


    We are working to bring quality, comprehensive mental health care to as many people as possible, especially those traditionally underserved.

    Clinical Responsibilities May Include:

    • Provide face-to-face mental health annual assessments

    • Facilitate client referrals for additional services consistent with assessed needs physician recommendation and/or client desired outcomes

    • Meet clients for treatment planning review and modification as needed but at least every 6 months

    • Provide brief crisis intervention, stabilization services and supportive counseling to meds only clients.

    • Refer client to manager when appropriate

    • Regularly consult with psychiatric providers and/or Clinical Operation Manager on specific client related clinical issues

    • Under direction of psychiatric providers, case manager will provide patients medication education print outs that are focused on understanding illness, symptom management and medication compliance

    • Other duties as assigned by Clinical Operations Manager

    • Assumes leadership role either by own initiative or when asked by Clinical Operations Manager

    • Maintains Medication Closet

    • Manages Sample Drug inventory to include;

    ? Logs samples in

    ? Manages sample supply

    ? Facilitates communication between Josselyn center doctors and drug reps

    ? Discards expired samples


    Administrative Requirements:

    • Receive input from the Clinical Operations Manager and provide feedback regarding administrative issues

    • Participate in supervision with Clinical Operations Manager

    • Participate in Staff Development seminars

    • Attend weekly case management meetings

    • Clear vacation and time off request with Clinical Operations Manager

    • Attend weekly case presentation meetings when possible

    • Appropriate and timely response to Clinical Operations Manager requests for data or special projects

    • Other duties as assigned by Clinical Operations Manager



    Core Competencies:

    • Demonstrated knowledge of community resources and services

    • Knowledge of adult mental illness, diagnostic symptoms and psychiatric treatment

    • Knowledge of psychotropic medications used to treat different disorders

    • Demonstrated knowledge and/or willingness to develop broad understanding of medical benefits available to clients and mechanisms for access

    • Complete all clinical documentation and required reports in an accurate and timely manner

    • Complete referral, transfer and discharge paperwork in timely manner: referral and transfer, immediately upon need; discharge summary and instructions within three working days of termination

    • Complete mental health assessments and accompanying paperwork timely and update CIS

    • Complete Treatment Plan, referral transfer and discharge paperwork, and mental health assessment accurately

    • Complete Service Ticket/Progress Note within three working days of day of service

    • Facilitate psychiatrist signatures on appropriate paperwork

    • Participate in orientations and training programs of the Center

    • Protect client confidentiality and abide by the ethical statement of the agency

    • Provide timely completion of LOCUS and update CIS

    • Maintain Productivity goals as determined by supervisor


    . Requirements:

    Experience & Education:

    Required:

    • Medical Assistant required; RN preferred

    • At least 1 year relevant experience working with individuals experiencing mental illness

    • Preferred case management experience in a mental health setting

    • Preferred Bilingual in Spanish
