Position Summary The compliance engineering is the subject matter expert in regard to global standards and regulations. This person is responsible for all compliance tasks and issues that arise in engineering, design, and manufacturing. This engineer will be responsible for creating and maintaining compliance documentation and reports for existing and new product lines. Also, to continue the development of compliance programs and internal processes that prevent, identify and resolve compliance issues in a timely manner. Knowledge and understanding in electrical engineering and manufacturing processes is appreciated.
Essential Job Functions
Ensure that government and industry regulations are met for new and existing product lines
Prevent compliance issues by collaborating with the engineering and the product development teams
Identify and resolve engineering design issues that affect product compliance
Lead ISO audits and engage teams on a regular basis to maintain the right standard of compliance
Conduct Internal audits in compliance with ISO 9001
Work with cross-functional teams to implement compliance changes and solve issues
Maintain and prepare compliance documents and reports for current and new product lines
Able to perform new product initial assessment and identify applicable standards
Guide Operations team to the most effective solution for production issue and preserve certification
Responsible for managing the lab testing process as well as keeping stakeholders aware of timelines or changes needed
Proactively identify new regulations or regulation changes that affect product compliance
Responsible for keeping departments throughout the organization up-to-date on new or revised regulations that may be relevant to product specifications
A contributor to the team, improving the product design and development process through education and awareness.
Serve as champion of Product Change Management process
Cultivate a foundational team and process to continuously launch new product and product changes with the appropriate certifications and approvals
Work directly with the Product Development and Management teams to introduce product to market, as well as sustain existing product
Evaluate and plan for innovative products or new markets by working with the Sales and Marketing teams
Help qualify vendors, components and parts
Collaborate with other compliance teams within Stanley Black & Decker
Maintain Regulatory Certification through third party follow up services
Essential Skills & Experience
Bachelor's degree in engineering, electrical engineer preferred, or 5 years of professional experience
Strong working experience with compliance in both domestic and international markets including.
5+ years of professional experience working with US, Canadian, European and Australian regulations- FCC, Safety, Prop 65, ICES, Machinery Directive, Low Voltage Directive, EMC, Radio Equipment Directive, RoHS, WEEE, REACH, TUV, UL, CSA
2+ years of professional experience working with Gensuite software
Outstanding project management skills
Ability to work in a fast paced and demanding atmosphere
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
Attention to Detail
