We are searching for a Patient Access Intake Specialist to perform a variety of duties to facilitate patient access to physician practice services throughout Southcoast Physicians Group under the general direction of the Manager, Patient Service Center or designee. This role is responsible to ensure patient compliance with applicable organization policy and to obtain accurate patient information to ensure patient safety and satisfaction, while ensuring optimal reimbursement to the organization in accordance with various external regulations. They will work as liaison between insurance carrier, physician office and other clinical services both within and without system wide departments to assure coordination of care, patient satisfaction and that all authorizations and referrals for all services are in place prior to service. Using critical thinking skills to insure appropriate CPT/ICD-9 codes are documented for appropriate service and payment
Hours: Per Diem
Shift: Flexibility - hours typically between 8:00am-5:00pm
Education and/or Experience Requirements:
- Associate'sDegree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience is required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Certificate in Medical Terminology is required.
- CHAM (Certified Healthcare Access Manage) or CHAA (Certified Healthcare Access Associate) is preferred.
- Previous call center or customer service experience is preferred.
- Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and other software programs is preferred. V
- Very good organizational skills are required.
- Over three (3) years of related healthcare experience, including working with third party payers is required.
- Excellent customer service skills and phone skills.
- Work environment is call center cubicles.
- Must pay attention to detail and have the ability to discuss financial obligations with patients.
