The Maintenance Specialist I performs entry-level building maintenance and construction work. Work involves assisting in maintaining and repairing buildings, utility systems, stationary equipment and operating motorized equipment. Performs data entry into facility computer aided management system for work order completion. Works under close supervision, with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Essential Job Functions:
Attends Work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.
Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location
Performs Computer Aided Facility Management (CAFM) preventive maintenance (PM) procedures on plumbing, masonry, welding, carpentry, painting, electrical, mechanical, ventilation, heating, air conditioning, or refrigeration systems.
Operates and performs PMs on motorized vehicles and equipment.
May assist with the preventative maintenance and repair of machinery, equipment, and utility systems.
May maintain and repair machines, equipment, boilers, and boiler feed pumps.
May perform inspections of operating machinery, equipment, and utility systems to ensure efficient and safe operations.
Enters data entry into the CAFM system on all preventive maintenance and facility assets.
Enters and retrieves data from the CAFM system for work order completion.
Knowledge Skills Abilities:
Knowledge of the construction, repair, maintenance, and operation of buildings, equipment, and utility systems.
Skill in the use and maintenance of tools and equipment including
Ability to follow instructions; to work from drawings, diagrams, or blueprints; and to communicate effectively.
Registration or Licensure Requirements:
Valid Texas driver's license, and continued maintenance of same.
Initial Selection Criteria:
Knowledge of building maintenance and repair work.
Experience working on preventative maintenance and repair of machinery, equipment, and utility systems May maintain and repair machines, equipment, boilers, and boiler feed pumps. May repair equipment and fabricate parts for repairs.
May perform inspections of operating machinery, equipment, and utility systems to ensure efficient and safe operations and performs related work as assigned.
