    The Software Technical Manager will be responsible for leading a team of software engineers developing high-level software deliverables such as compilers, microservices supporting quantum machine operation, user interfaces, and cloud-based services. The team will likely consist of 8+ direct reports, possibly growing to as many as 20. This position will be responsible for implementing short-term and long-term strategies for managing software resources and team capability development while driving successful project execution. The candidate must have strong leadership skills, be able to communicate effectively (both in writing and verbally), boast solid technical expertise, and be able to work well within a diverse and highly dynamic team.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Software project execution

    Constructing software project plans based on high-level HQS objectives

    Managing software development projects to successful conclusion, with accountability for scope, schedule, and budget

    Individual technical contribution and/or technical guidance and leadership on software projects and programs

    Functional management

    Development and implementation of staffing plans

    Team mentoring, performance appraisals, performance management

    Timecard and travel expense approvals

    Best-practice software process development including documentation, verification/validation, establishment of and adherence to process and quality objectives, etc.


    Bachelor's degree

    Minimum 7+ years of experience programming in modern coding languages such as Python, C++, Go, RUST, or Julia

    Minimum 5+ years of experience develop and deploy business-focused software applications

    Minimum 3+ years of experience manage Agile software development projects

    Minimum 3+ years of experience in technical leadership – either as a functional manager or a project technical lead

    Applicants for employment for this position must have work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States and with Honeywell. (i.e., H1-B visa, F-1 visa (OPT), TN visa or any other non-immigrant status)


    An advanced degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Management or Business

    Demonstrable project leadership and teaming skills with ability to lead small to medium sized projects of varying scope and complexity

    Strong systems/software development skills, including some or all of

    o Containers and associated tools

    o Microservice software architecture

    o Serverless software architecture

    o Commercial cloud platforms (AWS, Azure)

    o Software and system verification and validation

    Strong communication skills and ability to create and sustain an environment that promotes good communications and candid feedback

    Experience managing software deployments in multiple contexts including DevOps teams, cloud environments, and local hardware.

    The ability to influence others positively, create a passion for excellence, and execute multiple projects while meeting customer expectations

    A history of developing technical talent to handle diverse assignments with a bias for action

    Compensation & Benefits:

    Incentive Eligible

    Salary Range: $118,000 - $147,000
