Endoscopy Technician - GI Lab

We are looking for an Endoscopy Technician with the GI Lab at St. Mary Medical Center.

Location: Apple Valley, CA

Work Schedule: On call/Per diem

Shift: 10 hour (variable) Days

Job Summary:

Maintains a clean, safe environment within the GI Lab. Performs as the GI assistant on the Endoscopy team as well as assisting in other Surgical Services areas. Performs all functions, as outlined in the performance standards.

Essential Functions:

• Checks GI Lab schedule; ensures that G.I. Lab is neat and at the beginning of the day. Sets up for the first scheduled procedure.
• Ensures that the GI Lab is stocked at all times. Restocks cart and bins.
• Assists with transportation of patients.
• Assist with procedures within the GI Lab.
• Assists with PI and safety issues within the GI lab.
• Identifies multiple specimens appropriately.
• Maintains current knowledge on GI procedures and continues to keep current of new information.
• Transports specimens to appropriate place.
• Conducts leak and air/ HO test scopes once at the beginning of each week.
• Once every 28 days, checks Cidex and document findings.

Skills :

• Excellent oral and written and communication skills.
• Preferred: Knowledge of medical terminology.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

Education :

• H.S. Diploma or GED or equivalent educ/experience
• Coursework/Training - Unit specific training.
• Coursework/Training - Environmental orientation within 30 days of hire.
• Coursework/Training - Unit specific competency within 90 days of hire.

Experience : 1 year experience as an ORT.

Licenses and Certifications: Current BLS for Healthcare Provider.
