This position will provide technical advice to ongoing projects (Tushinde and USAID funded MOMENTUM Integrated Health Resilience (MIHR) with Sexual Gender Based Violence (SGBV) emphasis, provide proposal design and technical assistance to develop and grow new projects with SGBV focus, expand SGBV in humanitarian context, maximize impact of country programs by supportive innovative SGBV programming, develop core tools and guidance for best practice, document and disseminate learnings contributing to the global evidence base, and position Corus International's SGBV work through external representations. The competencies required to be successful in this position also include a theoretical and practical understanding of SGBV, and ability to guide staff and staff and field offices in SGBV project design and implementation.
Technical Advisory Services:
- Provide technical leadership support to on-going programs (Tushinde, - USAID funded MOMENTUM Integrated Health Resilience(MIHR) and new programs ensuring high quality and donor responsive SGBV programming, including, including support to develop technical reports, assessments, training, etc.
- Lead strategy development, and support implementation of and monitoring of a clear and coherent SGBV strategy.
- Facilitate and strengthen the development and implementation of SGBV Standard Operating Procedures for programs that enable all survivors to access, at a minimum, appropriate health, psychosocial, security and safety, and legal support. Support the harmonization of SGBV strategies across regions ensuring alignment with country and global policies and commitments.
- Support exchange of expertise and practices in countries and provide analysis of trends as well as aggregated reporting on SGBV activities.
- Share tools, new technical insights, and equip headquarters and field-based staff for SGBV mainstreaming.
- Support the development and implementation of programming for specialized SGBV prevention and response based on needs, risks, and capacity assessments at the onset of an emergency and throughout all phases of displacement. Participate in conducting, consolidating, and reporting on SGBV assessments including gender equality components and sharing strategic trends analyses.
- Support cross-cutting programs and technical sectors to mainstream and program for mitigation of SGBV risks in their specific technical areas, and report on progress.
- Support the capacity development of staff, partners, and other stakeholders to address SGBV and to promote gender equality and the empowerment of displaced women and girls.
- Support that community-based approaches are applied in SGBV programming and communities considered as key stakeholders.
- Lead research develop innovations, and build body of evidence of SGBV work, including the documentation of promising practices.
- Contribute to overall technical vision and support new business development for SGBV program opportunities.
- Work with the business development team to identify opportunities, engage in representation, networking, and cultivation of relationships with partners, technical donors and other organizations implementing programs.
- Undertake leadership role in proposal development, analyzing and recommending bid decisions, and conceptualizing teaming, leading designs, technical approaches, and cost strategies to maximize competitive advantage.
- Serves as proposal design lead and/or technical writer, providing vision and leadership to proposal team, and mentoring and supervising the application of best practices for SGBV.
- Work with the Senior Regional Directors(SRDs) and country and strengthens working relations with other agencies involved in SGBV prevention, risk mitigation and response.
- Partner with country offices and regional teams to strengthen Corus's collaboration with host governments to develop national services to expand safe access for Persons of concern to services that prevent, mitigate, and respond to SSGBV.
- Strengthen partnerships including with donor, multilaterals, governments, civil society and with displaced and host communities, to prevent, mitigate, and respond to SGBV, to promote gender equality and to ensure age and gender-informed protection and solution programs.
- Identify opportunities to raise Corus International's profile in SGBV work and represent organization through participation in conferences, strategic meetings, public speaking engagements, and publications.
- Participate as the Corus International representative in SGBV related technical working groups to ensure program and institutional representation.
- Work in partnership with Country Teams to implement SGBV programs, including developing workplans and indicators aligned with best practice.
- Collaborate with field teams to ensure technical quality of programmatic reports, including bi-weekly reports, quarterly and semiannual reports, newsletters, websites, and press releases.
- Masters degree, or relevant combination of qualifications and experience in SGBV programming
- At minimum 10 years' experience in SGBV programming, including in humanitarian context.
- Experience in SGBV program design, management, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, including donor relations, security, and protection considerations
- Excellent training, coaching and mentoring skills
- High level of writing and communication skills
- Willingness to spend high proportion of time travelling away from home (approximately 40%) and be deployed with limited notice period
- Cross-cultural sensitivity required; experience living and/or working in developing countries preferred.
- Experience working with professional and support staff in a multicultural, multi-linguistic environment.
- Experience working with host government counterparts, international partners and Non-government Organization/ Faith Based Organization/ Community Based Organization (NGO/FBO/CBO) partners.
- Language skills: English essential, French, Portuguese or Arabic desirable
