What You Will Do:

As Gannett Fleming continues to expand our client and project list in the Northeast region, we need an experienced Resident Engineer (“RE”) to manage and provide oversight of contractor operations for medium to large scale Bridge and Roadway related projects throughout the greater New York City area.

 

The Resident Engineer (“RE”) will manage the daily observation of the contractor operations for Roadway and Bridge projects throughout the greater New York City area. These projects will most likely be for NYC and NYS agencies. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Managing bridge maintenance operations and activities
  • Supervising construction activities for retaining walls, culverts, and sign structures.
  • Maintenance activities including bridge painting, substructure, and superstructure repairs.
  • Overseeing installation and structural steel replacement and repairs
  • Construction inspection for reconstruction, rehabilitation, painting, and replacement of bridges and roadways

 

The Resident Engineer may also perform Project Manager type responsibilities such as:

 

  • Overseeing field personnel timesheets, vacation/leave, and general personnel issues that may arise. 
  • Review project budget and cost to complete analysis.
  • The Resident Engineer will liaise between contractor and the client agency; maintain comprehensive project history files; review project documents in-depth to handle construction and design issues; and prepare change orders, project correspondence, and reports.
  • Perform routine assignments requiring application of spreadsheets, databases, and scheduling software. 

Education | Experience:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management.
  • NYS PE License
  • OSHA 10 Hour Certification.
  • ACI Certification is a plus.
  • Experience working on Bridge and/or Roadway projects preferred.
  • Experience working with NYC Agencies such as NYCDOT, NYSDOT, and NYSTA required.
  • Ability to supervise inspection staff.
  • Ability to review shop drawings, contractor schedules, permits and inspection requirements.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • NICET IV Certification
  • Strong time management and attention to detail
