This role provides proactive partnership with leaders to support a strong culture of safety by working on the implementation of safety and risk management systems to ensure a safe, healthy and accident free work environment. Serves as a change agent to achieve significant and sustainable safety cultural improvement across the organizations.
Leads the Safety and Property Loss programs for Masonite Corporation to ensure global compliance with safety regulatory requirements and corporate policies and programs. Focus on working to reduce injuries and workers compensation costs, ensuring root cause analysis is completed that translates into corrective actions that prevent reoccurrence, and provide coaching and guidance to Operations Leaders, Plant Managers, and Regional EHS Managers.
This position has a direct reporting relationship to the VP Environmental, Health and Safety and will manage a team of Regional EHS Managers in North America (US, Canada, and Chile), in addition to having dotted line responsibility with European (UK, IRE, CZ) safety leaders.
Establish and maintain an effective system of communication, develop an effective working relationship with all levels of the organization and coordinate safety activities throughout the company.

Analyzes records to determine trends and opportunities for improvement and provides recommendations to the VP of EHS.

Consult with government agencies on safety related citations
Advise members of management on safety matters
Publicize Safety material
Ensure compliance with federal, state and local safety regulations
Administer workers' compensation insurance program
Conduct annual corporate audits with safety and operations leadership
Distribute compliance calendar
Prepare, direct and coordinate emergency response activities
Inspect facilities to identify existing or potentially hazardous conditions
Recommend corrective/preventive measures to reduce risk
Analyze and update programs, procedures and plans in accordance with governmental or company guidelines
Promote a safe working environment to increase safety awareness
Identify, monitor, evaluate, and track all safety activities through audits, statistical analysis and computerized record keeping
Supports annual plans and budget development
Ensure all safety and training programs comply with OSHA and other industry standards, and are facilitated, managed, and audited through each business and jobsite across the organizations.
Maintain a standard to conduct investigations and corrective and preventive actions of workplace accidents, injuries and job site safety and makes recommendations to correct any issues.
Remain current on federal, state, county and local safety regulations, keeping management advised of new or revised regulations and their projected impact. Ensure compliance with applicable OSHA, NFPA, and NESC safety standards and regulations.
50%-75% travel requirement (approximately)
Must live near a major airport
BS in a related field (Safety Engineering, Occupational Safety) required
Lean Sigma Green Belt preferred
Minimum of 7 years of experience in Manufacturing Safety Management required
Working knowledge of worker compensation, Federal, OSHA, NFPA, NEC
Strong understanding of insurance/risk management, learning technology, and employee training and development.
Experience with Lean Sigma and Kaizen required
Proven experience in leading groups of employees
Must possess effective written & verbal communication skills
Good communication, presentation, training, and planning skills required
Must be comfortable presenting to groups of various levels
Must possess strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Powerpoint, Word, Outlook, Teams)
Must be able to demonstrate experience with and the ability to resolve conflicts, be solutions-oriented, and work effectively across the organization and with all levels of employee.
