Job Purpose: Assists Maintenance Director in performance of general maintenance at Our House, Inc. community residences, properties, and office. Maintains residences and properties to meet agency and community standards. The Maintenance Assistant is an essential employee in case of emergency or inclement weather. Must have own transportation to travel to various job sites to perform maintenance duties with agency reimbursement for mileage.
Assists Maintenance Director in performance of duties. Reports any maintenance or repair needs observed to supervisor. Follows all required safety and security guidelines. Reports any observed unsafe equipment, facilities or practices to supervisor.
Maintains grounds at community residences utilizing agency tools and equipment according to guidelines and directions from supervisor. Cuts lawns; plants, trims and maintains shrubs and bushes; rakes leaves; trims trees; properly disposes of yard debris (grass clippings, leaves, etc.); assists with snow removal.
Performs maintenance and repairs at community residences and office as assigned by supervisor including but not limited to the following: interior/exterior painting, carpet cleaning and shampooing, lock repair and replacement, light bulb replacement, cleaning of gutters, replacement of air conditioning/heating filters, etc.
Properly operates and maintains all tools and equipment.
Keeps supervisor regularly informed of performance of duties.
Properly maintains cleanliness and neatness of all areas where work is performed. Properly cleans and stores all agency tools and equipment in a neat and secure manner.
Follows all required security guidelines in regard to obtaining and returning agency keys. Leaves all agency areas locked and secured.
Follows all state, local, and agency rules and regulations.
Purchases maintenance supplies only at the direction and according to guidelines of supervisor.
Completes regular training programs to improve and expand maintenance skills, and maintain all necessary certifications.
Properly removes and disposes of discarded equipment and furnishings.
Completes daily maintenance log.
Obtains reimbursement for authorized mileage and other authorized expenses according to agency guidelines.
Approve agency vehicles for maintenance as needed and ensure that vehicle insurance is up to date.
Cooperate fully with Our House, Inc., State of New Jersey Department of Human Services, and Division of Developmental Disabilities staff in any inspection or investigation.
Travel required, approximately 90%.
