This is a critical tax leadership role to support our significant growth at SVB as LFI and support increased tax strategic planning under complex tax reform environment.
Manage U.S. corporate tax filings and audits and strategically manage risks & associated reserve
Assist with Planning opportunities and lead on implementation and projections of effective tax rate
Provide guidance and training on global tax accounting and involve in and/or manage quarter and annual income tax provision process
Monitor the control environment and ensuring that all SOX controls and procedures are in place and operating effectively while ensuring no deficiencies from a tax perspective
Monitor and analyze tax impacts for non-standard transactions. Liaise with internal teams and external advisors to resolve complex tax issues
Assist with transformation of our tax function to scale for growth, which includes people development, process and workpapers simplification and standardization, and effective use of data and technology
Perform technical review, research complex tax issues, and prepare tax memos
Lead on LFI Projects and Initiatives for Tax
Actively monitor US, state, and tax legislative and judicial actions, analyze potential impacts/benefits, and implement mitigation or action plans for the Company
Manage budget for outside advisors and ensure that projects are being conducted on time and within budget
Build collaborative relationships across the company
Provide leadership and coaching to tax team members
Assist with other corporate strategies/projects as requested by management
12+ years of combined public accounting and industry experience in Banking
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or equivalent
Master in Taxation is preferred
CPA is required
Skilled at performing corporate tax accounting for a publicly traded company including strong experience in ASC 740 and income tax provision calculations, income tax return preparation, tax research and analysis, and overall tax compliance.
Must possess an expert understanding of tax principles, tax accounting and business operations, and strong project management skills. Additionally, must be able to think strategically and have the ability to identify, research, resolve and communicate issues & opportunities

Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, including ability to articulate complex tax concepts in a business setting, including non-tax professionals
Strong project management, a proven ability to manage competing priorities and work in a fast-paced and deadline driven environment experiencing rapid global growth
Strong leadership skills, with the ability to leverage, coach and motivate talent to inspire action and achieve results
Team player with good leadership skills who is confident in communicating with others and is able to work with minimal supervision.
Detailed oriented and strong analytical skills
Strong teaming skills and ability to build consensus across functional groups within finance
Process-oriented, with the ability to create and enhance process improvements, and manage their implementation
Effectively communicate with external and internal auditors
