Main purpose of the Safety Coordinator role:

This is a full time role for a candidate who will support and assist the operations and facilities team in the responsibilities of making sure the buildings and their services meet the needs and safety of the employees that work in them. This candidate will assure the company is in compliance with OSHA Federal and State safety regulations to reduce accidents and workplace injuries. Provides input and analysis relative to the organization's safety goals and the establishment of a long-term safety environment.

Major Responsibilities:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Communicate with existing and new vendor for service calls, estimates and repairs.
  • Help delegate task to Maintenance and Janitorial teams. 
  • Report to the facilities manager any urgent and pending issues. 
  • Responsible reviewing surveillance footage per managers request
  • Prepare, proof and edit documents, correspondence, spreadsheets and reports as directed.
  • Coordinate training and maintain documentation.
  • Reviewing claims, accident reports, property damage reports, and other documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain claim documentation.
  • Assist with the company's Return-to-work program.
  • Coordinates purchase and manages inventory of safety supplies and equipment, safety forms and publications, training supplies and equipment, first aid and earthquake for offices and distribution center.
  • Monitor, update, and maintain safety programs.
  • Coordinate staff and safety meetings.
  • Coordinate, maintain and schedule risk management training programs.
  • Partner with W/C clinic ergonomic assessments for work stations.
  • Interacts and communicates with various members of the company (V.P. of Operations, Operation Manager, Human Resources, Procurement, etc.) 
  •  Possess strong computer, mathematical and analytical skills for understanding processes, be able to draw conclusions and make recommendations for process improvements

Required Competencies:

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Communication skills in in English and Spanish (in person and writing)
  • Organizational, Planning and Coordinating skills 
  • Decision making and problem-solving skills 
  • Must be detail oriented, have a high degree of persistence, motivation, self-discipline and follow up
  • Have the ability to handle sensitive and / or confidential information

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Typing 40-55wpm
  • Project management skills 
  • Knowledge of warehouse safety procedures and OSHA regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years experience in facilities and/or operations preferred
  • Experience in delegating and overseeing project execution
