Our client in Fire Protection Systems is currently hiring a Lead Procurement Engineer to work with the Procurement and Engineering Departments, and external vendors for all technical information associated with materials and components required for Production.
This position is a Direct Hire role.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Processes Engineering Change Notices and Engineering Release Notices.
Participates in supply chain evaluation of existing suppliers.
Responsible for evaluation and selection of new suppliers.
Oversees supplier tooling and maintaining database of supplier information.
Performs value analysis with Engineering Department as an organizational cost reduction effort.
Works closely with suppliers to receive quotes on existing or new parts.
Maintains and tracks information pertaining to suppliers and/or materials.
Secures and analyzes quotations and negotiates prices and terms with suppliers with respect to cost, quality and delivery competitiveness.
Relays technical communications and feedback from engineers to suppliers and vice versa.
Studies internal and external process improvements.
Responsible for reviewing reports pertaining to materials and parts that need to be purchased.
Works closely with Engineering Department and Quality on existing and new parts and product development activity and supplier interactions.
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and/or Related Field.
3 5+ years in Engineering, Purchasing, and/or Manufacturing.
Exceptional customer service and negotiation skills.
Excellent technical knowledge of global and local manufacturing processes.
Works systematically and logically to resolve problems.
Prioritize and complete a variety of tasks in a timely manner.
Solid understanding of common business practices relating to purchasing, pricing, terms, shipment, taxes and payment for products and services.
Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and terminology, including working knowledge of drawings, castings, machined and stamped components, and rubber/plastic molding.
