Overview:

There are times in life where things don’t go as planned, and traumatic events occur. As a nurse (RN) with our Med-Surg 2 West unit, you will care for trauma tele med-surg patients. Meaning that every shift, you will have the opportunity to provide care for, and make a difference in the life of someone who is recovering from atraumatic event. Your nursing skills will go beyond the bedside with your patients, as you assist them with learning how to adapt and ready them for discharge.

 

We will encourage you to advance in our Career Ladder program, and our unit leadership supports the achievement of this goal. Once hired you will become trauma certified. Because of this, nurses will be given ample opportunity to learn and advance positions. Our unit encourages bedside nurses to apply for leadership positions, especially within the unit, and will support those who do. We are proud to say that our Clinical Supervisors and Educator were all once bedside nurses on our floor.

Our team is made up of diverse cultures. Though we have different backgrounds, we pride ourselves on our ability to come together as a team to provide excellent patient care. Many of our staff have attended preceptor training and love teaching new members. All nursing staff will work closely with Trauma Physician Assistants and a dedicated Trauma Case Management team to ensure the best patient outcome is achieved.
 

With our 63-bed capacity and close involvement with trauma patients, in order to be an integral member of our team, you should have the ability and willingness to work closely with team members, have excellent communication and problem-solving skills, have the desire to work closely with all staff members, and have a positive attitude. Our main focus and priority are to maintain no hospital acquired infections, improve the safety of our patients, and better the communication and team work within the organization.

Experience and education minimum requirements

  • Graduate of an approved nursing program

Licenses and certifications

  • Current California Registered Nurse License
  • Current BLS certification
  • Basic Arrythmia must be obtained 6 months of hire or transfer into job
  • Adult Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within one year of hire or transfer into job
