Motor Transport Operator (Truck Driver)


Motor transport operators (truck drivers) operate a fleet of wheeled vehicles that transport Army cargo and personnel ranging from Humvees, buses to 7-ton vehicles. Motor transport operators (truck drivers) are also responsible for vehicular attachments like trailers.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Operate all wheel vehicles and equipment over different types of terrain.
  • Provide basic vehicle maintenance to ensure operability.
  • Manage the loading and unloading of personnel and cargo being transported.
  • Perform wheeled vehicle recovery operations (similar to towing) when vehicles become disabled.
  • Provide training, certifications and licensing to military personnel.
  • Prepare vehicles to be moved via cargo plane or ship.
  • Protect convoys, personnel and equipment at all times.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Age - 17 to 34 years old
  • Education - Current Senior in High School(HS), HS Diploma, GED or higher
  • Citizenship - U.S. Citizen/Permanent Resident
  • Submit to background and medical screening

Additional Requirements: 

  • Attend Basic and advanced training (Paid)
  • Complete the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB)
  • Submit to background and medical screening
