This position will be supporting our Brain Injury and Spinal Injury units, working with leadership from both teams. We are looking for a nurse who is self-motivated and who loves patients and staff! This is a great role for RNS with charge nurse experience who are looking to grow their skills.
In this position you will:
Round frequently to remain aware of overall unit status in order to affectively assign, reallocate and plan for appropriate resources
Make patient care assignments and delegates appropriately
Assigns staff considering scope of practice, capabilities and skills of individual team members, complexities of patient care needs and unit needs
Assure that breaks and lunches are taken and that staff are completing work on time to avoid end of shift overtime
Complete approval/recording of missed breaks/lunches and ADO forms.
Flex beyond guidelines when necessary to remain open to admissions and minimize delays when able to do so safely and maintain overall patient care, by critically assessing all variables
Communicate to nurse manager and administrator on-call if concerns with additional admissions
Maintain mobile phone availability at all times to assure timely communication
Delegate charge responsibility to a staff member as necessary to maintain continuity and patient flow
Provide expert consultation, coaching and just in time education to employees to ensure safe and effective patient care
Supervise the activities of assigned staff and takes corrective and/or disciplinary action when necessary
Completes employee performance evaluations on time including goal setting and continual performance development
Respond to patient and family concerns. Initiates service recovery when needed and works collaboratively with Nurse Manager and other members of the inter-professional team for preventative measures as appropriate.
Monitor handoff communication to assure consistency and effectiveness
Provide coaching as need to maintain a positive and safe patient and staff experience
Maintain clinical competency to provide direct patient care when required by unit needs to assure no interruption of care, treatment or service
Provide daily support to other disciplinary teams as necessary
Report data trends to nurse manager as appropriate
Collaborate with other services and leaders such as case management, therapy, medical staff and pharmacy to provide care, treatment and services to meet patient outcomes
Has thorough knowledge of principles and practices of nursing to include admitting and discharge process, bed placement, care coordination and utilization review
Work with the administrative and clinical leaders to assure ongoing compliance with Joint Commission, CARF and federal, state and local laws
Required qualifications for this position includes:
Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Washington.
Current ACLS Certification or must obtain as soon as class available; not to exceed 90 days in role
Current PALS Certification or must obtain as soon as class available; not to exceed 90 days in role
Obtain CRRN within 1 year of entry into role or as eligible, meeting ARN qualifications
Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA-BLS) certification for the Healthcare Provider or obtain within the first 30 days of employment
Two (2) years current nursing clinical experience
Preferred qualifications for this position includes:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
Experience in acute care or rehab care setting
One (1) year nursing management/supervisory experience
