Job Description

The Payroll Accounting and Controls Senior Analyst is responsible for governance over the execution of payroll accounting and control, payroll tax audits and analysis, and related reporting for all PepsiCo divisions. The Senior Analyst also participates in special projects as assigned throughout the year.

  • Owns the end to end execution, reporting and documentation of PepsiCo payroll controls.
  • Ensure Alight and internal PepsiCo representations are received on a timely basis and summarized/reported to the appropriate organizations
  • Perform test of controls on a quarterly basis and develop the process to report to the appropriate teams
  • Propose changes to the risk assessment narrative/risk control matrix as necessary based on changes in processes
Payroll Accounting and Reporting:
  • Ensure timely review and summary of division payroll account reconciliations by outsourced vendor (Alight) - obtain necessary explanations and analysis
  • Lead reconciliation review meetings
  • Continuous improvement from the Alight and division accounting teams to enhance/harmonize processes
  • Identify trends and issues to mitigate risks to Alight and PepsiCo accounting teams
  • Perform monthly/mid-period payroll G/L postings for period close
  • Oversight of journal entries performed by other associates
  • Resolve payroll related G/L posting or cost center owner issues
  • Monitor and deliver payroll reporting requests from division accounting and finance teams
Payroll Tax Analysis and Reporting:
  • Review payroll tax filings with Alight's Tax Filing Shared Services (TFSS) to ensure filings are balanced against payroll results and reconciling items clear on a timely basis
  • Lead payroll tax filling audits from various state agencies to ensure compliance with requirements
  • Provide reporting to the Corporate Tax team as requested
  • Provide assistance to finance partners across all PepsiCo divisions
  • Provide reporting requirements to the HR Ops reporting team as needed
  • Understand tax updates and impact to communicate impacts proactively
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant)
  • 5+ years accounting experience; 2 years controls (e.g. SOX) experience
  • MS Office proficiency including PowerPoint
  • Experience working with an ERP system, preferably SAP
  • Expertise in GAAP and Accounting Standards
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a Shared Services environment
  • SAP HCM experience
  • 2+ years Public Accounting experience
  • Experience in vendor management
