Citi established its Citi Data Management Policy and Standard (CDMP) to govern and manage data in compliance with regulatory expectations. It sets forth the minimum requirements for the implementation of a consistent and controlled approach to create and use data as a critical corporate asset. The Policy also establishes a Governance Model for Data Management, Governance and Quality across Citi. All Citi employees, contractors, and personnel with responsibility for the ownership, production, and consumption of data must manage data in accordance with the CDMP.
This position is in the US Consumer Bank, supporting its data governance related functions as outlined in the CDMP and managed by the US Consumer Analytics (USCA) team.
Your goal as a Data Provider is to maximize the trustworthiness and usage of data from applications / systems that are the Trusted Sources (Systems of Origin, Systems of Record and Authoritative Provisioning Point (APP)).
The Data Provider role is responsible for demonstrating adherence to APP requirements, including understanding consumption requirements; confirming completeness, accuracy, timeliness and granularity of inbound and outbound data and relevant details of their sources.
In this role, the individual will support a team to ensure adherence to Citi's Data Management Policy (CDMP), Trusted Sources Methodology and APP Requirements.
Coordinate with Data Custodians, Data Stewards and other support teams regarding APP operations, Data Quality in the APP, data demand / consumption requirements, and open Data Quality exceptions / issues.
Oversee provision of quality data from upstream data sources into the APP and from the APP to downstream consumers.
Perform Data Quality checks to ensure safe, accurate, and controlled sourcing, transport, access and storage of data within their APPs.
Review implementation, maintenance, and functionality of Data Quality controls (i.e., preventive and detective) in the APP with support from Data Custodian.
Coordinate with Process Owners, Data Stewards, and Reporting Roles to understand consumption requirements and ensure they are being completely fulfilled in a timely manner.
Lead implementation of demonstrable controls to identify, document and resolve weaknesses in the Systems of Origin, Systems of Record and APPs.
Review requirements and verify controls are in accordance with the Trusted Sources Methodology, with support from Data Stewards and Data Custodians.
Review changes to CDEs and Corporate CDEs with support from Data Stewards and Business Architects by Data Domain, and assess impact on the APP.
Coordinate with Process Owners and Data Stewards on potential process enhancements.
Subject Matter Expert on CDMP, Trusted Sources Methodology, Data Quality, Metadata Standards and Metadata Management Process and knowledgeable with Issue Management & Resolution (IMR), End User Computing (EUC), and other data-related Citi policies and standards.
Be a thought leader for Data Governance. Share best practices. Identify ways to simplify and enhance ways to manage APPs.
Be a trusted advisor and partner to the supporting functions and stakeholders.
Present status updates, issues / challenges / risks and solutions to senior management, stakeholders and partners in a succinct manner to drive decision-making and actions.
Lead meetings to solve issues / challenges / risks by factoring input from partners and diverse points of view.
Promote ‘data as an asset' and drive culture change to make the organization ‘data savvy' via lunch-n-learn sessions and equivalent forums in partnership with Process Owners, Data Custodians, Data Stewards, etc.
Education & Qualifications
Bachelor degree in Business, Finance, Engineering or Information Systems, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Master's degree is preferred, but not required.
At least 5-10 years of combined experience in banking and financial services industry and/or 3+ years in business analysis in specific banking functions or applications, developing standards, processes and specifications.
Experience includes managing / leading data and data quality initiatives, aligning business processes with data, implementing technology solutions, developing or supporting standards / policies and data-related issue management and remediation efforts.
Working knowledge of owning an application, including budget, determining required enhancements, and working with teams of Business, Operations and IT support staff.
Experience liaising with IT Application Owners (Data Custodians) regarding application enhancements, data quality, data transformations, and data transfers.
Experience driving change initiatives, application enhancements and process improvements.
Ability to understand the purpose of their APP in the broader context of the organization.
Demonstrated understanding of both business and IT terminologies, and experience communicating business requirements to IT professionals.
Ability to understand the data being fed into the application from upstream processes, including how Data Quality issues in these processes will affect data in the APP.
Ability to understand how data from their APP maps to downstream processes, including how Data Quality issues in the APP will affect these processes.
Experience performing Data Quality checks.
Ability to understand new and ongoing consumption requirements for their APPs.
Experience provisioning data to downstream consumers through both automated and manual mechanisms (e.g., data subscriptions, file transfers, etc.).
Experience implementing and monitoring performance of Data Quality rules and controls (i.e., preventive and detective) in applications.
Experience managing technical requirements of applications, including data storage, data quality and data transfers.
Demonstrated understanding of IT constraints and an ability to communicate them to business stakeholders.
Working knowledge with agile methodology, metadata and data quality tools.
