Due to the current pandemic, daily travel is minimal and voluntary to ensure the health and safety of staff. There is no overnight travel currently. In the future, this position may resume daily and/or overnight travel. All AHA offices are closed and staff are currently working from home. Offices will be reopening on a part-time basis in September 2021 and a full-time basis in January 2022; this position will resume to being based in the local office.

Responsibilities

The American Heart Association has an exciting opportunity for a Director, Talent Attraction based out of our National Center office located in Dallas, TX!

You will work directly with AHA leaders to partner & drive the overall organization's talent needs and employer brand while embedding diversity, equity and inclusion throughout the candidate and employee experience. This person will lead, encourage, and empower a reconized team of talent attraction professionals to deliver against organizational wide recruiting goals and drive both short and long-term initiatives for an organization of 3000 employees with locations across the US and with an international footprint. The ideal candidate is dedicated to AHA's mission, an outstanding leader, and has a commitment to the collective and individual success of their team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leads a team of experienced recruiters and a Diversity Outreach, Employer Branding Program Manager, as part of a Center of Excellence (CoE), building a sound sense of team unity and engagement by developing recruiter capability (eye for business, partnering & influencing skills)

  • Partners closely with executives, business leaders, HR Partners and is viewed as a trusted and valuable partner that can lead creative association wide recruiting initiatives (e.g., diversity recruiting efforts; targeted/passive talent pools; etc.)

  • Builds and executes a strong talent attraction strategy to effectively accomplish hiring goals consistent with AHA vision and values through interpreting data, forecasting and strong leadership

  • Strategizes on and drives projects and initiatives to streamline processes & make a positive impact on both their own team and overall talent attraction

  • Leads and refines the full spectrum of search, selection, tools, assessments, and recruitment processes demonstrating creative and efficient methodologies in a high-performance culture

  • Owns reporting on business, team and talent attraction metrics including efficiency, effectiveness, diversity, and quality of candidates

  • Leads and increases a network of active, qualified talent pools, utilizing multiple recruiting channels including but not limited to ERG's, job boards, social media, job fairs, affinity & civic groups, professional organizations, etc.

  • Intentionally emphasizes growing the applicant flow of candidates that are diverse, military veterans, individuals with a disability, and LGBTQ+ status

  • Ensures a diverse and engaging employment brand that aligns with our mission and core values and further enables AHA's position as a Fortune Magazine, Great Place to Work, a top Regional Company by Diversity Inc, National Organization on Disability, Leading Disability Employer, and enhances positive Glassdoor ratings

  • Directs and leads compliance with Affirmative Action Plans and all recruiting-related legal matters, including compliance with equal opportunity hiring protocols and recordkeeping, background screening and reporting

  • Leads recruiting budget, provides monthly reporting, and leads annual budget process

  • Provides support to successful candidate on-boarding

  • Directly recruits on open positions based upon overall requisition loads and/or level of position

  • Ability to travel up to 10% and overnight stay

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience

  • Five (5) + years' experience in a recruiting leadership role and partnering with senior executives

  • Ten (10) + years' recruiting experience with proven track record of meeting and exceeding team and individual hiring targets while staying passionate about outstanding candidate experience and partner management

  • Strong intuition for business and ability to establish relationships, influence others and understand the needs of the business

  • Experience in leading large, business critical initiatives proven to impact AHA's strategic goals, employer brand and overall candidate experience

  • Validated experience in communication, presentation, and organizational skills

  • Strong operational experience in reporting and data analysis to drive strategy and achieve hiring goals

  • Excellent influencing and communication skills with the ability to present data to key Executives, establishing credibility and building trust with team and partners

  • Shown success leading, motivating, and inspiring a highly hardworking CoE team to achieve great results

  • Ability to analyze and use data to accurately forecast and help team drive effective recruitment strategies

  • Experience with applicant tracking systems-iCIMS, social media & talent network recruitment

  • Extensive knowledge of modern Talent Attraction & Acquisition practices

  • Ability to successfully collaborate with partners internally and externally
