Senior Level Career (5+ yrs experience) The Garrett Group (TGG) is a world-class provider of analytical, planning, engineering and consulting services to satisfy intelligence, ISR, cyber, operations, security and information technology requirements to government and commercial customers. Responsible for monitoring, design and implementation, configuration, installation and troubleshooting of system and network management technologies. Performs configuration development scripting on Cisco, UNIX and NT platforms for network management tools. Administers network management tools to include configuration, implementation, monitoring, maintenance and management of system baselines. Reviews/analyzes, reports metrics (volume, peak loads and network performance) to determine capacity and quality of service. Develops Internet/network security, firewall administration and virus protection strategies. The ISPAN Increment 5 Network Specialist – Senior installs, configures, services, repairs, and maintains hardware and software for network services, storage and network devices, and server systems. Integrates multiple information systems in local and dispersed networked environments. Implements required hardware upgrades and repairs inoperative devices to maintain mission capability. Installs and configures hubs, routers, switches, and server systems software. Install, terminate, reroute, and test copper and fiber optic cabling associated with offsite locations. Coordinate material and tool supply requirements for all cable and equipment rack installation projects. Completes all required installation documentation and will be knowledgeable in network cable installation techniques and labeling schemes. The work environment has been defined as dynamic and fast-paced, requiring effective interactions and communications. Technician must support design of network communication closets and equipment racks to include elevations and anchoring of the racks. Updates network drawings for infrastructure topography along with contract required draftsman documentation responsibilities. Must be able to define cable plant expansion paths and routing of cable according to DoD standards of installation and ensures that all cables are connected within the appropriate security enclave and separated from telephone infrastructure. Essential Job Functions:
Candidate must be able to perform the following tasks:
Implementation and Integration of designed solution
Be able to work independently for extended durations (if needed)
Conduct routine testing and perform analysis of all elements of the network facilities (including power, software, communications machinery, lines, modems, and terminals)
Demonstrate proficiency in utilizing software and hardware tools to identify and diagnose complex problems and factors affecting network performance
Operate, maintain, and administer network components to meet operational, availability, and mission requirements
Complete electronic documentation of all work completed and update cable layouts for all networks
Diagnostic testing of copper and fiber network cabling
Labeling and documentation of network cabling
Grounding of network rack equipment
Hardware Installation Experience/Educational Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline or a minimum of 3-6 years relevant industry experience
Experience working with relevant network systems and networking principles
Network cable testing experience
Experience working with Customers, must be friendly, polite and be able to describe the actions being taken during repair or installation Additional Experience/Education:
Experience with configuration/integration of Cisco switches, routers and appliances
Knowledge of network security, system operations and performance system effectiveness
Experience with System Engineering tools, probability, statistics, modeling and simulation programs
Working understanding of system engineering basics Desired Certifications:
Information Assurance Technical Level II (or higher) within 120 days of hire is required (e.g., Security + ce)
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) – Routing and Switching
Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT)
CompTIA Network + Additional Requirements:
Good verbal and written communication skills, influencing skills and ability to work effectively with a team
Ability to follow instructions and procedures with perfect detail
Knowledgeable of network operations, network security, system operation and performance, and system effectiveness Clearance Requirement:
The candidate hired for this position must be a US Citizen with an active top secret security clearance with eligibility for SCI – or – must be capable of maintaining/obtaining a TS/SCI clearance. If the candidate does not have a top secret clearance, a minimum of a Secret security clearance is required to start work on-site for this contract.
