Operations Specialist - Full-time

Job Description

Accurately and efficiently receive, store, pick, pack, and ship parts, machines, tooling, spare parts, and related combinations thereof. Ensure quality material handling by paying attention to correct customers, locations, quantities, shipping methods, labeling and shipping requirements. Cross train in all duties including subassembly, light electrical assembly, machine assembly, building maintenance and assisting in controlling costs, as well as meeting inventory goals.

RECEIVING AND SHIPPING:

• Receive, log, stock, and stage materials in the correct locations.  Assist in maintaining effective inventory levels (KanBan or other system).
• Interface with drivers in a professional manner to quickly and efficiently load and unload trucks.
• Interface with shipping companies in a professional to obtain information, quotes and schedule shipments as needed
• Interface with internal employees and customers in a professional and proactive manner in order to get incoming material to where it needs to go in a timely manner.
• Count, verify and accurate receive parts/purchase orders into ERP system.
• Visually inspect incoming parts for damage
• Inspect parts for conformance to prints and specs
• Verify accuracy of product numbers and quantities per the packing slip.
• Complete all shipping related paperwork accurately.
• Prioritize and mark packing slips and orders per instructions.
• Process non-conforming products in a timely manner
• Restock materials and supplies for each following day’s activity. Review shipping supply list and order necessary materials
• Perform regular housekeeping including organizing and warehouse locations, shipping receiving area, and work space including but not limited to, sweeping, empty trash and general cleanup.
• Accurately pick and pack materials and related materials as necessary.  Pack products per procedure and customer shipping requirements including bar code labels, material certifications, custom labeling, etc
• Perform safety checks in department as needed
• Build pallets as needed to mount and ship machinery.

Operations and Maintanance:

• Cross train in automation for duties such as sub-assemblies, assemblies, machine set-up and assistance
• Cross train in maintenance for duties including but not limited to working with vendors, setting up service, fixing machines and other building necessities.
• Cross train in parts in order to be able to build assemblies, put away stock and ship orders.
• Become certified on ITW forklifts
• Constantly strive to improve and make work/repetitive tasks easier, more accurate and more efficient.
• Supports the maintenance and operation of production equipment. 
• Makes recommendations for service and or replacement.
• Supports Equipment run offs including set up and testing, providing feedback to engineering for design or programming opportunities, documenting changes on appropriate forms, and on-site installations and support.  Cycles standard machines.
• Works with customers in-house to monitor and test work-in-process of standard specialty and automated equipment.  Find solutions to problems.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:  High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience/Skills: 

• At least 1 year of warehouse experience including picking, packing and shipping. Some inventory control system experience a plus.
• At least 1 year experience with hand and power tools and light machine work including but not limited to, drilling, tapping, cutting, pneumatic nailers, wood saws, painting and carpentry.
• Plumbing and electrical experience a plus
• Business Central experience a plus
• Basic PC skills including use of Word and Excel, MS Outlook.
• Forklift certified – or within 90 days of hire. Will provide training.
• Mechanical assembly competency or demonstrated willingness to learn a plus.
• Motivation to improve either drastically or incrementally a plus.
• Must be willing to learn and step out of comfort zone in order to get things done.

1.     While performing the duties of this job, the employee will frequently (34% - 66%) be required to bend, squat, twist/turn, and walk, and constantly (67% - 100%) be required to talk, hear, reach outward, stand, and grasp with hands. They will occasionally (1% - 33%) be required to occasionally climb, crawl, reach above shoulder, sit, and type.

2.     The employee must carry up to 10 pounds constantly, up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 50 pounds occasionally and push and pull up to 10 pounds constantly, up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 50 pounds occasionally.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include concentrated attention, close vision, far vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to bring object into sharp focus
