What you’ll be doing...

The Digital Operations Center - Monitoring, Tools and Technology team is looking for a Lead Java Engineer to support exciting transformation initiatives. The person should be familiar with a variety of the application technologies, environments, concepts, methodologies, practices, and procedures and rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. If you’re a Software Engineer who’s worn a lot of hats and has a great understanding/background in complex Application Development practices and provides vision, problem anticipation, and problem-solving ability to organization, then this is the role for you! You will play a key role in transforming digital experience for Verizon customers.

  • Communicate and work closely with solution architects, enterprise architects, and business teams to design and develop technology solutions.
  • Create reusable, scalable, maintainable, and well-tested solutions.
  • Mentor and motivate others around you with your passion and expertise.
  • Collaborate with product owners and other engineers on building high-quality features.
  • Ownprojects through design, implementation, and deployment.
  • Go-to individual for service & technology integration for our monitoring organization.
  • Gather requirements, write functional/technical specifications, and communicate them effectively.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with HTML, CSS, Spring, Spring Boot, ASP, JSP, Servlets, Hibernate, or Java EE, SOAP and REST API development experience and knowledge of Markup languages like XML and JSON.
  • Willingness to travel.

Even better if you have:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science , Information Technology.
  • Software development and DevOps; experience in Object Oriented Programming (OOP)
  • Architect and develop cloud-native code on Java Stack that meets functional specifications and non- functional requirements.
  • Experience designing, building, and maintaining Log Aggregation, Log Parsing, Kibana/ Grafana Dashboard.
  • Experience deploying and / or operating services in AWS.
  • Good understanding of databases and forming/troubleshooting queries in Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL and NoSQL.
  • Experience in DevOps methodology for Continuation Integration and deployment with Open Source technologies like GIT, Jenkin, JIRA, Confluence, ELK Stack.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum concepts and experience working in an Agile environment.
  • Strong knowledge of software engineering best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, test, build and release engineering processes with focus on automation and end to end traceability.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
