This position assists attorney(s) by providing paralegal and administrative support services including performing research, preparing documents, reviewing documents, and overseeing operational duties for the General Counsel office.
- Conducts legal research in reviewing, analyzing, studying, searching statutes, regulations, court decisions, and related authorities related to university legal issues.
- Assists in responding to subpoenas and public records requests, including gathering and reviewing responsive documents, drafting responses, and identifying any public records exceptions and objections to subpoenas.
- Reviews contracts for compliance with university policies.
- Acts as office manager, including serving as a liaison with external units and internal staff.
- Assists with the office's budget, processing invoices, and procuring goods and services for the office.
- Acts as a receptionist, including answering central phone line and routing calls appropriately, and uses discretion and independent judgment to answer questions on behalf of assigned attorneys and/or refers individuals to the appropriate person.
- Schedules meetings for attorneys, reviews and distributes attorneys' mail, responds to items when appropriate, accurately prepares correspondence and reports, and organizes and maintains attorney files.
- Reviews case files, reads briefs, and records motions and opinions.
- Assists in preparing reports and analyses.
- Performs related or similar duties as required or assigned.

Education:
Bachelor's Degreefrom an accredited four-year college or university.
AND
Five (5) years of experience related to the above described duties.
Substitution Statement:
Related experience may be substituted for education, on a basis set forth and approved by the Department of Human Resources.
Annual salary range for this position is $48,954 - $56,854. Actual salary will be based upon education, experience, and departmental budget.
