Our Client is looking to bring on 2 Mid-level Network Engineers.

****These candidates will come on-site 2-3 days a week to their Columbia location and can work remote 2-3 days a week. They will need to travel to their new data center at Tierpoint near BWI airport to install and configure a lot of the new network gear they are purchasing over the next few months.*****

Job Description

These 2 Network Engineers will be involved in the Data Center efforts involved with the recent split between our Staffing and HomeCare.

This person will be responsible for implementing and configuring new routers and switches (Catalyst, Nexus 9K's) within the 2 separate data centers to support HomeCare and Staffing. They are moving their existing data center that is on-site at their UMBC location to TierPoint’s new facility in Linthicum, MD. Their current data center co-location is in Equinix down in VA.

Big order for new routers and switches (will arrive in a few months)

Set up and configure network hardware in new data center at TierPoint

Cisco ACI for segmentation

Mid-Level Network Engineer

• 1 for Staffing

• 1 for Homecare

More implementation and configuration support

Migrate apps to new data centers- network infrastructure will have to go in first

POC for SDWAN solution

Cisco firewalls- looking to Palo Alto or Fortinet firewalls

This person will apply rule changes to firewalls

Some design but mostly implementation and configuration

Nexus 9K switches

8500 Catalyst switches

Understanding of routing and switching

Routing protocols (BGP, EIGRP)- moving into OSPF environment

Wireless experience would be a big plus

UC would be out of scope of this- may be looking to move to the Cloud

The Network Engineer II is responsible for the technical design/architecture, configuration and implementation of core elements that comprise the company’s enterprise data and voice networks. The ideal candidate will serve as a technical consultant within multiple project teams, and be responsible for the effective and timely delivery of networking and unified communications solutions to meet the defined needs of the organization. The position is considered to be the resident technical expert within the network/telecom space.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist with planning, design and implementation of large enterprise network solutions to support the enterprise

• Work in conjunction with multiple project team members to refine project-specific requirements and meet project deliverables within the networking space

• Provide tier-3 level technical support to resolve networking issues with a strong focus on customer service

• Create and maintain comprehensive technical design documentation for proposed and implemented solutions

• Work with Solutions Architects to assist in technical evaluation of potential new technologies and vendor selection

• Support the Network and UC Operations Teams by facilitating effective service transition and process development

• Perform other duties as assigned/necessary

Job Requirements:

• At least 5 years of experience managing and supporting large-enterprise infrastructure/network environments - designing, planning, documenting and implementing LANs and WANs, CCNA, CCNP, CCIE or CWNA preferred.

• Current knowledge of network security technologies – including, but not limited: Cisco Firepower (FTD), Cisco ISE

• Current knowledge of S2S VPN configuration, and maintenance support

• Hands-on experience with network hardware, specifically Cisco routers and switches (6500/4500/Nexus 2K, 5K, 7K, 9K - 2800/2900/4300)

• Knowledge of Dynamic Routing Protocols EIGRP and BGP

• Knowledge of enterprise-level WAN and Internet circuits configuration, and maintenance support, along with inter-data center connectivity

• Experience with Cisco Application Centric Architecture (ACI) preferred

• Conceptual understanding of Zscaler cloud-based content filtering platform

• Experience using packet capture software such as Wireshark and other sniffer tools; ability to perform comprehensive network performance analysis

• Familiarity with SD-WAN infrastructure

• Understanding of TCP/IP network protocols, including common application protocols

• Experience with Cisco wireless technology – Cisco Prime management, Cisco internal/external controllers

• Strong experience with core data center and campus environment networking technologies

• Preferred experience with Solarwinds

• Preferred experience with managing Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) 10.x

• Flexible and able to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
