2nd / 3rd Shift Package Handler $17 /Hour

Description:

FedEx Ground is one of the largest delivery services in the United States. The Regional Distribution Hub or the NOKY facility is located in Independence, KY. The location serves as a regional hub for all online shipments to move through for sorting and tracking purposes. If you order something online within 100 miles of NKY and it is being shipped by FedEx, your package will pass through this facility! This is their seasonal ramp up. They currently have 375 package handlers and need to be close to 1100 by December!!!!! On a day to day basis, the candidates will be responsible for the following: - They will meet w/ their area supervisors to conduct pre shift stretching - They will be assigned to either unloading boxes directly off of the trailers, moving the packages onto the different sorting conveyor lines or they will be helping to move larger packages onto different material handling equipment that is operated by FedEx employees (think of how they move luggage around be it goes onto the plane). - This requires lifting boxes alone that are anywhere from 5-60lbs. and tandem lifting w/ a partner up to 100lbs. (those packages will be clearly labeled).

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

MUSTS: - 6 months to 1 year of work experience. Highly preferred that his comes from distribution or MFG. but retail or restaurant experience works as well. - Ability to work anywhere from 5 to 10 hour shifts as well as holidays and weekends - Ability to repeatedly pick up and/or move packages ranging from 5lbs. to 100lbs. (packages over 60-70 pounds require two people to lift them) - Attention to detail to ensure that packages are sent down the proper sort conveyor line. - Ability to stand on ones feet for up to 3 hours straight before breaks PLUS: - experience working in sorting, package handling high speed production - experience working in a distribution center
