Description:

We are looking for a small animal technician that can provide basic needs of small laboratory animals by performing animal husbandry tasks such as feeding, weighing, preventive health maintenance, providing social interaction, and by maintaining a clean living environment.

Job Duties:

  • Cleans and/or completes spray-backs and sanitizing of animal caging and housing areas.
  • Administers daily and enrichment feeding while assessing and documenting appetite and feces patterns.
  • Observes small animals for signs of illness or injury, and notifies research technician or veterinary staff as necessary.
  • Weighs animals according to schedule or as dictated by study protocol.
  • Performs preventive health maintenance such as nail trims, teeth trims, and bathing.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Previous animal handling experience.
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
