Description:
We are looking for a small animal technician that can provide basic needs of small laboratory animals by performing animal husbandry tasks such as feeding, weighing, preventive health maintenance, providing social interaction, and by maintaining a clean living environment.
Job Duties:
- Cleans and/or completes spray-backs and sanitizing of animal caging and housing areas.
- Administers daily and enrichment feeding while assessing and documenting appetite and feces patterns.
- Observes small animals for signs of illness or injury, and notifies research technician or veterinary staff as necessary.
- Weighs animals according to schedule or as dictated by study protocol.
- Performs preventive health maintenance such as nail trims, teeth trims, and bathing.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- Previous animal handling experience.
- High school diploma or GED is required.
