Require one full-time-equivalent (FTE) to serve as the Linux Lead Engineer. The candidate must be a strong technical performer experienced with configuring, installing, and maintaining Linux based communications systems. The candidate will be expected to provide leadership and technical expertise within a small team to solve diverse mission requirements. The candidate must support the entire lifecycle of solution developments from identifying technical needs, eliciting requirements from end users, implementing solutions compliant with program security concerns, acquiring equipment, writing effective documentation, obtaining approvals, training users, and maintaining the solution once deployed. Successful candidates are current on technology capabilities, security risks, and tracing exploitation. In addition, the candidate must maintain and troubleshoot all equipment and solutions implemented to ensure continued successful completion of project objectives.

This role supports the following core functions:

•Build, configure, and maintain multiple communication solutions to meet project objectives.•Collect requirements, work with stakeholders, and prioritize tasks for new deployments.

•Specify, select, and procure computer and network equipment and services.

•Install servers, VMs, workstations, laptops, and other devices to implement solutions.

•Maintain new and existing solutions to ensure continued performance at desired security levels.

•Engage with technical and non-technical end users to provide training and root cause troubleshooting.

•Develop system and network documentation and procedures.

•Enhance and maintain system and network monitoring systems.

•Provide mentoring and guidance to junior technical staff.

Candidate must be able to support regular domestic travel (approx. 1 trip per month) and provide after hours support to critical issues, as needed.

Required Skills:

•TS/SCI with Poly.

•5+ years of relevant experience in the areas of Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, and/or Information Systems.

•Knowledge of computer (Linux) and network security concepts, including open-source capabilities for routing, switching, firewalls, VLANs, and various transport protocols. As well as Cisco and Juniper networking and VPN implementations.

•Experience with building and maintaining Linux based communications and security capabilities.

•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills as applied to defining and developing technical solutions.

•Experience with at least one scripting language: Bash; Python; etc.

•Ability to effectively communicate.

Desired Skills:

•Experience in building and deploying Linux instances in both public (e.g. Amazon EC2) and private cloud environments (e.g. KVM).

•Experience architecting, building, and maintaining multiple-node and multi-vendor VPN based data transport solutions on the internet.

•Experience configuring and deploying network and web services including DNS, DHCP, SMTP, Syslog, and HTTPS.

•Experience with virtualization technologies including hypervisors, virtual machines, virtual desktops, and virtual networking technologies.

•Experience with networking, routing, switching, sub netting, firewalls, VLANs, ports and protocols with multiple commercial network vendors such as Cisco and Juniper.

•Experience with one-way transfer solutions and data flow management between security enclaves.

•Effective technical writing skills related to creating/editing documents, drawing packages, procedures, and training packages.

Education:

•Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.

Requires advanced knowledge of work area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience. May have practical knowledge of project management. Practical to substantial knowledge of RTX projects, programs or systems with the ability to make enhancements and leverage in daily work.

Typically requires: A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience

Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Typically requires a degree in Science,Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
