Summary:

Provide personal care services, assistance with activities of daily living, support and supervise residents.

Education:

Requires the ability to use fractions, decimals and commercial arithmetic. Basic knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation is required. Equivalent to a four (4) year high school education. CNA license.

Experience:

One (1) to three (3) months as a nursing assistant, home health aide, or eldercare volunteer.

Job Duties:

  • Provide direct personal assistance and supervision needed by residents, including assisting residents when necessary on an individual basis with their bathing, dressing, eating, walking, going up and down steps, smoking and attending to any personal needs the residents may be unable to attend to themselves. Encourage and assist residents to care for their grooming, clothing and toilet articles, including care of the body, hair, gums, teeth, dentures, finger¬nails, clothing and personal items.
  • Respond immediately in case of an accident or incident involving a resident and make a proper report of the incident.
  • Handle non-routine housekeeping tasks, such as wiping up a water spill, doing laundry, emptying trash cans, changing sheets or assisting a resident make their bed.
