Job Summary:

Working under the direction of the Case Aide Supervisor, the Case Aide serves as an integral member of the program's multidisciplinary team. S/he is responsible for facilitating patient access and supporting the program's ongoing activities. The Case Aide supports the Bay Cove mission in their provision of quality care and support for all Andrew House patients. This is a non-exempt position.

Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A

Essential Functions of Position:

  • Checks patients' schedule for the day
  • Assists with and/or perform procedures with proper instruction and supervision, such as: admitting, transferring, discharging patients, observing and caring for patients, ensuring that safety devices and precautions are being used
  • Responsible for patients' receipt of Andrew House Orientation Packet, theClient Handbook(within 24 hours of admission)
  • Act as a role model for patients. Strictly observe patient-staff boundaries, monitor unit for unacceptable behaviors.Use CPI techniques when deescalating patients
  • Sets up/uses equipment and appliances as directed by the Case Aide Supervisor or Nurse Manager
  • Observes patients and notes physical condition, attitude, reactions, and reports unusual findings to Nurse Manager
  • Conducts routine room searches and charts information in orderly log and sign entry
  • Supervises patients' fresh air / outdoor breaks
  • Remains on unit until relieved by next shift
  • Observes sanitary techniques in cleaning to prevent spread of disease and infections
  • Participates in general unit cleaning duties, including emptying rubbish barrels, cleaning of dining room as required, bathrooms each shift (toilets, sinks, showers), wiping tables down, washing cups & coffee pots, washing patient and house laundry and cleaning up after meetings
  • Answers telephones, run errands, provide and receive reports
  • Assists in providing non-professional nursing or other supportive care under the direction and supervision of professional nurses/counselors
  • Maintains proper care and use of supplies and equipment
  • Drives patients to appointments or discharge destination in the absence of the driver
  • May be required to perform some out of doors activity such as shoveling snow to clear emergency exits or clearing grounds near trash receptacles
  • Attend in-service trainings and daily case conferences as directed by supervisor
  • Performs other duties as directed by supervisor or person in charge of the unit

Requirements for the Position

  • High school diploma, previous experience in SA and/or MH setting
  • Massachusetts driver's license highly preferred and good driving record
  • Ability to understand and follow the regulations pertaining to confidentiality of client records and treatment
  • Ability to apply aseptic technique in patient care
  • A COVID-19 vaccination is a requirement of the position. One COVID-19 shot is acceptable, contingent on the individual receiving the second shot within the allotted time frame.
